16. Adaptive Robot Presenters : Modelling Grounding in Multimodal Interaction
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses the topic of grounding in human-robot interaction, that is, the process by which the human and robot can ensure mutual understanding. To explore this topic, the scenario of a robot holding a presentation to a human audience is used, where the robot has to process multimodal feedback from the human in order to adapt the presentation to the human's level of understanding. 17. A Facet Model of the Logical Operational Structures of Piaget's Theory : Guttman's Facet Design applied to Piaget's Theory
Sammanfattning : This thesis explored whether the complex structure of Piaget's theory of operational thinking could be synthesized into a facet model by means of facet design. The aims were: (1) to deduce from detailed conceptual analyses of 12 of Piaget's classical experiments the essential parts of the operational structures (Study I); (2) to explore the internal structure of his constructs in terms of a mapping sentence (Study II); (3) to study the hierarchical structure of the interrelationships between the constructs (Study III); and (4) to apply the facet model in the development of test items (Study II and IV). 18. A Multimodal Approach toward the Biological Categorization of Autism - Development of Theoretical Models, Classification Methods, and Biomarkers
Sammanfattning : Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is an umbrella term for a group of neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD) which are behaviorally defined by the presence of difficulties with social communication, and behavioral rigidity and repetitiveness, including sensory disturbances. The overarching aim of this thesis was to improve the categorization of autism through the development of a theoretical framework and a multivariable classification method, and identify biomarkers which together would aid in the understanding of autism and be used in ASD classification. 19. The Membrane Proteome : Evolution, Characteristics and Classification
Sammanfattning : Membrane proteins are found in all kingdoms of life and are essential for cellular interactions with the environment. Although a large research effort have been put into this group many membrane proteins remains uncharacterized, both in terms of function and evolutionary history. LÄS MER
20. Acute pancreatitis - severity classification, complications and outcome
Sammanfattning : Acute pancreatitis, with an annual incidence of approximately 35 per 100 000 inhabitants in Sweden, is in most cases mild and self-limiting. Severe acute pancreatitis, affecting 10-15% of the cases is, however, associated with severe complications and even death. LÄS MER
