  1. 21. Dissecting the Microenvironment of Urothelial Bladder Cancer : Therapy, Modelling and Biomarkers

    Författare :Iliana Kyriaki Kerzeli; Sara Mangsbo; Tania de Gruijl; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immuno-oncology; Tumor immunology; MALT1 inhibition; Urothelial bladder cancer; Tumor microenvironment; Immunologi; Immunology; Oncology; Onkologi; Urologi; Urology;

    Sammanfattning : The complexity of the tumor microenvironment (TME) impacts therapy responses and the survival of cancer patients. The scope of this thesis is to study the effects of immune modulation on tumor-infiltrating leukocytes, and to explore the TME of urothelial cancer to provide the research society with new knowledge and potential therapeutic targets. 2. 22. Application of Nanomaterials for the Removal of Hexavalent Chromium and their Biological Implications

    Författare :Terrance Burks; Yohannes Kiros; Arunachalanadar Madakannan; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Nanomaterials; Chromium; Biology; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) stated that chromium in the form of Cr(VI) has been deemed to be a class-A human carcinogen. It has been a major contaminant associated with wastewater. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Bacteria and cancer : from toxin delivery to carcinogenesis

    Författare :Riccardo Guidi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Epidemiological evidence link certain chronic bacterial infections to a higher risk of cancer development. Induction of an inflammatory circuit and the accumulation of genomic instability are considered mechanisms by which bacteria contribute to malignant transformation. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Hormonal regulation of sex differentiated liver carcinogenesis in the rat

    Författare :Dezhong Liao; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Endocrine factors influence cancer development in a variety of reproductive and non-reproductive tissues and organs. The incidence of liver cancer is higher in men than in women and long-term administration of androgens and estrogens has been reported to increase the risk for liver cancer formation, supporting the importance of hormonal factors in the etiology of this tumor. 5. 25. Analysis of DNA adducts formed by tamoxifen and related antiestrogenic and estrogenic compounds in rats

    Författare :Heli Rajaniemi; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DNA adducts; 32P-postlabelling; tamoxifen; toremifene; diethylstilbestrol; clomiphene; triparanol; raloxifene; antiestrogen; estrogen; SERM; genotoxicity; cancer;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented herein has focused on DNA adduct formation by the non-steroidal antiestrogen tamoxifen and its analogues. Tamoxifen, [(Z)-1-{4-[2-(dimethylamino)-ethoxy]phenyl}-1,2-diphenyl-1-butene], is widely used in the treatment of breast cancer and its recognised side effect is endometrial cancer. LÄS MER
