    Sammanfattning : This thesis studies the process and products of migratory self-adaptation: the practice of a migrant author recreating their own work in a new medium, and the baggage it brings with itself. Migratory self-adaptation is developed and analyzed in this research through a comparative and processual analysis of two cases of adaptation: Persepolis, a French autobiographical graphic novel written and drawn by Marjane Satrapi, the Franco- Iranian artist and writer, later turned into an animation movie co-written and codirected by Satrapi herself; and The Patience Stone, a novel written in French by Atiq Rahimi, the Franco-Afghan author, which is adapted to a homonymous film in Dari- Persian, co-written and directed by the author. 2. 2. Physiological roles of amyloid precursor protein in vivo - zebrafish as a model

    Författare :Jasmine Chebli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Amyloid-beta precursor protein; amyloid precursor protein-b; zebrafish; physiological functions; development; trigeminal ganglia; ependyma; cilia; proteomics; translational adaptation;

    Sammanfattning : Amyloid-beta precursor protein (APP) is an evolutionarily conserved transmembrane protein expressed in many different tissues. APP belongs to a gene family consisting of two other APP-like proteins (APLP1 and APLP2). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Lipoprotein lipase : mechanism for adaptation of activity to the nutritional state

    Författare :Gengshu Wu; Thomas Olivecrona; Gunilla Olivecrona; Peter Nisson-Ehle; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; adipose tissue; heparin; extracellular; nutrition; turnover; actinomycin; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is an enzyme to hydrolyze triglycerides in lipoproteins and thereby make the fatty acids available for cellular metabolic reactions. Short-term fasting down-regulates LPL activity in adipose tissue. This regulation is through post-translational mechanism. LÄS MER

  4. 4. SUMOylation is a post-translational modification regulating skeletal muscle pathophysiology

    Författare :Gabriel Antonio Heras Arribas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The research of this thesis is focused to investigate the role of SUMOylation, a protein post-translational modification reaction, implemented to the skeletal muscle pathophysiology area. SUMOylation is regulated by an enzymatic cascade of coordinated events capable of the reversible attachment of the Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier (SUMO) on to the targeted proteins. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Mechanisms of adaptation to the fitness cost of antibiotic resistance

    Författare :Wilhelm Paulander; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : The dissemination and persistence of antibiotic resistance, is not only depending on the volume of drugs used but also on the resistance mechanisms effect of bacterial fitness (reproductive ability). Fitness is a multifactorial parameter that is comprised of the relative growth rate of the resistant pathogen in the host and in the environment, as well as the clearance and transmission rates compared to susceptible strains.
