  1. 1. Transtructures : prototyping transitional practices for the design of postindustrial infrastructures

    Författare :Lorenzo Davoli; Johan Redström; Cameron Tonkinwise; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Infrastructures; transition design; postindustrial design; system design; drones; participation; design practices; automation; hacking; logistic; telecommunications; hållbar utveckling; sustainable development; design; design;

    Sammanfattning : This dissertation is about 'transtructures', a term coined to describe new kinds of infrastructures that are more attentive and responsive to the needs of contemporary society, its emerging economies and technological capabilities. The purpose of this inquiry is to begin to explore the character and possibilities of a design practice that could guide responsibly and ethically the transition of existing industrial infrastructures towards these new configurations: what processes it could follow, and what materials it could include. 2. 2. Platform Design : Creating Meaningful Toolboxes When People Meet

    Författare :David Joaquin Cuartielles Ruiz; Teemu Leinonen; Malmö universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; NATURVETENSKAP; HUMANIORA; NATURAL SCIENCES; HUMANITIES; Platform Design; Interaction Design;

    Sammanfattning : Platform Design is a study of different viewpoints on the creation of digital systems, and how they converge in platforms designed, built, and managed by communities. As sociotechnical constructs in which features emerge through the interaction of different stakeholders, platforms are understood as both means and outcomes—the ‘things’ or boundary objects in a design process—generating the spaces where communities of practice can form. 3. 3. Zero Waste Design Thinking

    Författare :Holly McQuillan; Clemens Thornquist; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; zero waste design; sustainable design; circular economy; fashion design; circular design; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Sammanfattning : The fashion system is contributing to the environmental and social crises on an ever increasing scale. The industry must transform in order to situate itself within the environmental and social limits proposed by economist Kate Raworth, and the 17 sustainable development goals set out by the United Nations. 4. 4. Body movement as material : Designing temporal expressions

    Författare :Linnea Bågander; Clemens Thornquist; Lise Amy Hansen; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Design; body; body as material; fashion design; performing arts; temporal form; practice-led research; design methods; motion design; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Sammanfattning : Movement and temporal qualities have a significant effect on design expressions. However, in the design of dress these are often overlooked, and the static form of a positioned body is considered to be the main driver of design. This work explores the expressions of the body in motion, engaged in the interaction constituted by wearing. LÄS MER

  5. 5. How Service Ideas Are Implemented : Ways of Framing and Addressing Service Transformation

    Författare :Tim Overkamp; Stefan Holmlid; Johan Blomkvist; Alison Prendiville; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; HUMANIORA; NATURAL SCIENCES; HUMANITIES; service transformation; service implementation; service innovation; design; service logic; value co-creation; industrial service design;

    Sammanfattning : As a field in practice and academia, service design is moving out of its formative phase. In service design research, the realisation of service transformation from idea to service practice and the ways that design(ers) can contribute to this process are topics that are not well understood yet.
