  1. 21. Transport Coefficients during Drying of Solids containing Multicomponent Mixtures

    Författare :Rafael Gamero; Joaquín Martínez; Evangelos Tsotsas; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; capillary; conduction; convection; diffusion; evaporation; heat transfer; hydraulic conductivity; liquid film; liquid transport; mass transfer; Maxwell-Stefan diffusion coefficients; molar fluxes; phase equilibrium; temperature gradient; ternary mixture; thermodynamic factors; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This study investigated the transport coefficients involved in mass and heat transfer during the drying of a porous solid partially saturated with multicomponent mixtures.  It included the coefficients governing liquid transport through the solid, the matrix of multicomponent diffusion coefficients in the liquid phase, and the effective thermal conductivity. 2. 22. New insights into the role of ppGpp and DksA through their effect on transcriptional regulation of housekeeping and colonization related genes of Escherichia coli

    Författare :Anna Åberg; Carlos Balsalobre; Anne Farewell; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Escherichia coli; type 1 fimbriae; fimB; phase variation; transcription; global gene regualtion; ppGpp; DksA; gre-factors; RNA polymerase; Medical microbiology; Medicinsk mikrobiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Bacteria have the ability to sense different environmental signals. When an environmental stress is detected, bacteria rapidly adjust their gene expression profile to be able to survive and thrive. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Nanoparticle-based Capillary Electrochromatography - Separation of Small Molecules and Proteins

    Författare :Christian Nilsson; Tillämpad biokemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nanoparticles; Capillary Electrochromatography; Green Fluorescent protein; Pseudostationary Phase; Capillary Electrophoresis;

    Sammanfattning : The use of nanoparticle-based pseudostationary phases (PSPs) in capillary electrochromatography (CEC) for separation of small molecules and proteins is demonstrated. A continuous full filling approach is used where the nanoparticles are suspended in the electrolyte. LÄS MER

  4. 24. Durable Polysulfones with Densely Sulfonated Segments for Highly Proton Conducting Membranes

    Författare :Shogo Takamuku; Centrum för analys och syntes; []

    Sammanfattning : Fuel cells are considered as a promising alternative environmentally benign power source to the existing ones depending on petroleum oil. Especially, proton-exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) have been intensively developed during the last decade because of their wide application windows including various portable, stationary and transportation applications. Författare :Jessica M. Bergman; Diarmaid Hughes; Dan I. Andersson; Måns Ehrenberg; Stanley Maloy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; tufA; tufB; EF-Tu; ppGpp; Stringent response; RNase E; RNA turnover; Post-transcriptional regulation; rpoB; rpoS; Growth in stationary phase; Biology with specialization in Microbiology; Biologi med inriktning mot mikrobiologi; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Molekylär genetik; Molecular Genetics; Biology with specialization in Molecular Evolution; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär evolution;

    Sammanfattning : Most free-living bacteria will encounter different environments and it is therefore critical to be able to rapidly adjust to new growth conditions in order to be competitively successful. Responding to changes requires efficient gene regulation in terms of transcription, RNA stability, translation and post-translational modifications. LÄS MER
