16. Effects of environmental acoustic factors, individual differences and musical training on speech perception in simulated classrooms
Sammanfattning : Formal learning takes place primarily through speech perception in classroom environments and is therefore dependent on the listener’s ability to cope with a number of acoustic factors that interfere with the speech signal. As classrooms are inclusive spaces accommodating learners with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds, this research investigated some of the ways in which individual differences in supporting cognitive skills are related to speech perception outcomes in various challenging acoustic environments. 17. Exploration des mécanismes non conscients de la perception de la parole: approches comportementales et électroencéphalographiques
Sammanfattning : Although a lot of information is available from our environment at every moment, only a small part gives rise to a conscious percept. It is then legitimate to wonder which mechanisms are involved in the perception phenomenon. LÄS MER
18. Vocal Expression of Emotion : Discrete-emotions and Dimensional Accounts
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigated whether vocal emotion expressions are conveyed as discrete emotions or as continuous dimensions. Study I consisted of a meta-analysis of decoding accuracy of discrete emotions (anger, fear, happiness, love-tenderness, sadness) within and across cultures. LÄS MER
19. Sound perception and design in multimodal environments
Sammanfattning : This dissertation is about sound in context. Since sensory processing is inherently multimodal, research in sound is necessarily multidisciplinary. The present work has been guided by principles of systematicity, ecological validity, complementarity of methods, and integration of science and art. LÄS MER
20. Lost in Translation : Speech recognition and memory processes in native and non-native language perception
Sammanfattning : This thesis employed an integrated approach and investigated intra- and inter-individual differences relevant for normally hearing (NH) and hearing-impaired (HI) adults in native (Swedish) and non-native (English) languages in adverse listening conditions. The integrated approach encompassed the role of cognition as a focal point of interest as well as perceptualauditory and linguistic factors. LÄS MER
