  1. 21. Care Need Index, Social Deprivation and Health. Epidemiological Studies in Swedish Health Care

    Författare :Marianne Malmström; Samhällsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; coronary heart disease risk factors; socio-economic position; mortality; self-reported health; Social deprivation; primary health care; Social medicine; Socialmedicin; samhällsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: To analyse the associations between health and neighbourhood social position, measured by a composite index (Care Need Index, CNI). Furthermore evaluate CNI in preparation for future analysis of its usefulness for allocating primary health care resources to deprived neighbourhoods. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Classification and Computational Methods in Gene Expression Data Analysis

    Författare :Cecilia Ritz; Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioinformatik; medicinsk informatik; Bioinformatics; medical informatics; biomathematics biometrics; missing values; leukemia; cDNA microarray data; supervised classification; breast cancer; prognostic markers; biomatematik;

    Sammanfattning : The technology of cDNA microarrays has given us the possibility to monitor the state of cells by measuring the activity of thousands of genes simultaneously. This high-throughput techniqe has in cancer research allowed exploratory studies of molecular mechanisms behind for example metastasis and response to therapy. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Nuclear magnetic resonance studies of water self-diffusion in porous systems

    Författare :Daniel Topgaard; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; diffusion diffraction; nonfreezing; anisotropy; tortuosity; cross relaxation; emulsion; starch; cellulose; porous material; water; NMR; self-diffusion; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was used to study the self-diffusion of water in porous systems that respond to a change in water content in order to elucidate the porous structure and the properties of the confined water. In the carbohydrate systems cellulose fibers and starch granules, water is free to move throughout the porous objects, albeit with a rate reduced from the value of the bulk liquid, The reduction is related to the tortuosity of the pore space filled by water. 4. 24. Acute pancreatitis - severity classification, complications and outcome

    Författare :Bodil Andersson; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; quality of life; costs; exocrine function; endocrine function; risk factors; acute pancreatitis; mortality; severity classification; artificial neural networks; pancreatic pseudocysts; treatment; complications; outcome; long-term follow-up;

    Sammanfattning : Acute pancreatitis, with an annual incidence of approximately 35 per 100 000 inhabitants in Sweden, is in most cases mild and self-limiting. Severe acute pancreatitis, affecting 10-15% of the cases is, however, associated with severe complications and even death. LÄS MER

  5. 25. PARTICIPATION IN NEEDS ASSESSMENT OF OLDER PEOPLE PRIOR TO PUBLIC HOME HELP Older persons', their family members', and assessing home help officers' experiences

    Författare :Ann-Christin Janlöv; Institutionen för hälsovetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; age 75 and older; home help officer care manager; needs assessment; family participation; experience; Medicine human and vertebrates ; public home help; transition;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aim of this thesis was to illuminate older persons' experience of becoming in need of public home help and their family members' experience of this situation. Further, the aim was to illuminate experiences of participation in the needs assessment process of older people and influence on decisions about public home help from the perspective of older needs-assessed persons, their family members, assessing home help officers and external home help officers.
