11. Vasodilator actions of EDHF and anandamide
Sammanfattning : Vasodilator responses to endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF) and anandamide in isolated arteries were investigated. A combination of the potassium channel blockers charybdotoxin and apamin inhibits EDHF-mediated relaxations. LÄS MER
12. Immunological, vascular and metabolic actions of androgens
Sammanfattning : Men have higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) but lower risk of autoimmune disorders than women. The actions of sex steroids may be involved in the sexual dimorphism of these diseases. Although testosterone, the main androgen, seems to protect against autoimmunity, its role in CVD is contradictory and disease-dependent. LÄS MER
13. Estrogen actions in the growth plate cartilage
Sammanfattning : Estrogens may influence bone growth locally or systemically via the estrogen receptors alpha (ERα), beta (ERβ) and G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER-1). In Paper I, our study showed that the treatment of ovariectomized C57BL/6 mice with a selective ERα agonist 1,3,5-tris(4-hydroxyphenyl)-4-propyl-1H-pyrazole (PPT) reduced growth plate height and hypertrophic zone height suggesting that the effect was induced via ERα. 14.
15. DNA-Mediated Detection and Profiling of Protein Complexes
Sammanfattning : Proteins are the effector molecules of life. They are encoded in DNA that is inherited from generation to generation, but most cellular functions are executed by proteins. Proteins rarely act on their own – most actions are carried out through an interplay of tens of proteins and other biomolecules. LÄS MER
