  1. 1. Human T-lymphocyte activation : interactions between lymphocytes and mitogenic or non-mitogenic lectins

    Författare :Marie-Louise Dillner-Centerlind; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this investigation was to gain further insights in the mechanisms of T-lymphocyte activation by lectins. Interactions between the lectins and purified lymphocytes from human peripheral blood, were studied in the following respects: in vitro culture requirements for lectin induced DNA-synthesis, intercellular regulations of the mitogen response and binding of lectins to lymphocyte surface components. 2. 2. Influence of FK506 on certain aspects of lymphocyte activation and lymphocyte-endothelial cell interactions in vitro

    Författare :Håkan Karlsson; Avdelningen för medicinsk mikrobiologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytokine; adhesion molecule; endothelium; lymphocyte metabolism; interleukin 2 receptor; FK506; cyclosporin A; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; virologi; mykologi; Immunology; transplantation; serology; Microbiology; bacteriology; mycology; virology; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : In the present thesis, the influence of the immunosuppressive drug FK506 on mitogen-induced changes in the expression of subunits a and ß of the IL-2 receptor by isolated human peripheral blood mononuclear cells has been studied. Up-regulation and release of the a-chain were potently depressed by FK506, even in the presence of exogenous IL-2. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Tularemia : epidemiological, clinical and diagnostic aspects

    Författare :Henrik Eliasson; Erik Bäck; Anders Sjöstedt; Clas Ahlm; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; Francisella; tularemia; epidemiology; case-control; diagnosis; PCR; clinical characteristics; immunology; ELISA; lymphocyte stimulation; Medicine; Medicin; Infektionssjukdomar; Infectious Diseases;

    Sammanfattning : Tularemia is a zoonosis caused by the small, fastidious, gram-negative rod Francisella tularensis that appears over almost the entire Northern Hemisphere. In Sweden, tularemia has appeared mainly in restricted areas in northern parts of central Sweden. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Expansion of circulatory Vγ9Vδ2 T cells in tularemia and Pontiac fever, two intracellular bacterial diseases with widely different clinical expression

    Författare :Michal Kroca; Dieter Kabelitz; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Immunology; Francisella tularensis; Gamma-delta T cell; Legionella; Legionellosis; Lymphocyte; T cell Tularemia; Immunologi; Immunology; Immunologi; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Although well established that human Vγ9Vδ2 T cells may expand in circulation during intracellular bacterial infections, most underlying studies included only a few cases and only some diseases had been studied so far. In tularemia, a severe invasive disease, only one patient had been described. LÄS MER

  5. 5. T-cells in COPD to help or harm? A study of T-cells in COPD patients and related aspects of T-cell function in vitro

    Författare :Pernilla Glader; allergologi och palliativ medicin Lungmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Andningsorganen; Respiratory system; Immunologi; serologi; T-cell; inflammation; mucosal immunology; transplantation; serology; Immunology; lymphocyte; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, COPD, is manifested by chronic airflow limitation due to inflammation and tissue destruction in the lungs. COPD is caused primarily by smoking and with increasing cigarette consumption in the world, the prevalence for COPD will most probably increase in the future. LÄS MER
