  1. 1. Cytokine responses in human Lyme borreliosis The role of T helper 1-like immunity and aspects of gender and co-exposure in relation to disease course

    Detta är en avhandling från Institutionen för molekylär och klinisk medicin

    Författare :Sara Jarefors; Christina Ekerfelt; Pia Forsberg; Jan Enerudh; Chatarina Svanborg; [2006]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Borrelia; human granulocytic anaplasmosis; cytokine; immunology; chronic; MEDICINE Microbiology; immunology; infectious diseases Immunology Clinical immunology; MEDICIN Mikrobiologi; immunologi; infektionssjukdomar Immunologi Klinisk immunologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lyme borreliosis was first described some 30 years ago in the USA. Today, it is the most common vector borne disease in Europe and the USA. The disease can have multiple stages and symptoms can manifest from various parts of the body; joints, skin heart and nervous system. In Europe, neuroborreliosis is the most frequent late stage diagnosis. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cytokine-regulated eosinophil migration in inflammatory disorders Clinical and experimental studies

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Maria Lampinen; Uppsala universitet.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medical sciences; Eosinophil; cytokine; migration; inflammation; asthma; allergy; inflammatory bowel disease; ulcerative colitis; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Clinical Chemistry; klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : The accumulation of eosinophil granulocytes (EOS) at sites of inflammation is a common feature of astma, allergic rhinitis and inflammatory bowel disease. The aim of the present investigation was to study the mechanisms involved in this accumulation. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Exploration of Conditions Affecting Cytokine Production in Experimental Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Författare :Lina Thorvaldson; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cytokine; Diabetes; Tumor necrosis factor-α; Interferon-γ; Interleukin-4; Interleukin-10; Transplantation; Pancreatic islet; Glucose; Regulatory T cell; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cytokines are soluble signalling mediators within the immune system, and have been shown to be of importance in the development of type 1 diabetes (T1D). This thesis studied the production of cytokines in experimental models of T1D and during transplantation of insulin-producing islets of Langerhans. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Expression and role of the cytokine tyrosine kinase receptor flt3 in early hematopoiesis

    Detta är en avhandling från Jörgen Adolfsson, Stem Cell Laboratory, BMC B10, Klinikg 26, 22184 Lund

    Författare :Jörgen Adolfsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2004]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hematologi; extracellulära vätskor; extracellular fluids; Haematology; flt3; cytokine; Hematopoiesis; stem cells;

    Sammanfattning : Mature blood cells are crucial for life, but they have a short lifetime and thus have to be replaced. These mature blood cells are produced by lineage restricted progenitors, which themselves are generated by rare multipotent hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in a highly dynamic process called hematopoiesis. 5. 5. Glucocorticosteroid effects on cytokine production: studies in a glucocorticosteroid resistance model and in allergic airway disease

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Respiratory Medicine and Allergology, Lund University

    Författare :Susanne Larsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2000]
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; GM-CSF; cytokine; glucocorticoids; budesonide; IL-2; IL-4; IL-12; asthma; allergic rhinitis; allergic airway inflammation; Respiratory system; Andningsorganen;

    Sammanfattning : Glucocorticosteroids (GCS) are potent anti-inflammatory drugs, probably due to inhibitory effects on cytokine production. However, a small number of asthma patients seem GCS-resistant. Pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as interleukin-2(IL-2) and IL-4, produced during allergic airway inflammation have been proposed to induce the resistance to GCS. LÄS MER
