  1. 1. Development of low affinity techniques for applications in clinical chemistry

    Författare :Lisa Leickt; Avdelningen för klinisk kemi och farmakologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; chromatography performance; acute myocardial infarction; antibodies; creatine kinase MB isoforms; lectins; low affinity interactions; weak affinity chromatography; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : An increase in the plasma level of creatine kinase MB (CKMB) has long been used to indicate acute myocardial infarction (AMI). For optimal treatment an early diagnosis is important. An increase in the ratio between the two isoforms of CKMB is seen much earlier than an increase in the total level of CKMB. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Insulin action and secretion after surgical trauma : an experimental study in the rat

    Författare :Lisa Strömmer; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :rat; surgical trauma; insulin resistance; glucose transport; PI 3-kinase; intravenous glucose tolerance test; hyperglycemic clamp; pancreatic islets; lipogenesis; lipolysis; uncoupling proteins;

    Sammanfattning : Physical injury or surgical trauma leads to an endocrine-metabolic response that causes a catabolic state designed to promote the healing process. Insulin resistance and mobilization of endogenous fuel stores are prominent changes in metabolism seen after surgery. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Pharmacogenetic Studies of Antihypertensive Treatment : With Special Reference to the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System

    Författare :Lisa Kurland; Heribert Schunkert; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Medical sciences; pharmacogenetics; hypertension; renin-angiotension-aldosterone system; gene polymorphisms; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Hypertension is common and constitutes an increased risk of morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular disease. Antihypertensive treatment will reduce this risk; the individual patient's response to treatment, however, is difficult to predict. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Redesign of Alpha Class Glutathione Transferases to Study Their Catalytic Properties

    Författare :Lisa O Nilsson; Ralf Morgenstern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; glutathione transferase; heterologous expression; heterodimer; hydroxyalkenal; protein redesign; sequential design; dimer-interface interactions; enzyme kinetics; glutathione; dynamic C-terminus; viscosity dependence; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : A number of active site mutants of human Alpha class glutathione transferase A1-1 (hGST A1-1) were made and characterized to determine the structural determinants for alkenal activity. The choice of mutations was based on primary structure alignments of hGST A1-1 and the Alpha class enzyme with the highest alkenal activity, hGST A4-4, from three different species and crystal structure comparisons between the human enzymes. 5. 5. Specific phobias in children and adolescents : a cognitive-behavioral approach

    Författare :Lisa Svensson; Anne Marie Albano; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; anxiety disorder; cognitive-behavioral therapy; phobia; children; adolescents; treatment; 1-session; graduated exposure; experience; Fobier; Fobier hos barn; psykologi; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : The present dissertation comprises four empirical studies that examine different aspects of the phenomena of fears, phobias and anxieties in children and adolescents, at different levels of application. At the same time, this dissertation corresponds to the first randomized treatment study carried out with children suffering from anxiety disorders in Sweden. LÄS MER
