  1. 1. Clinical Pharmacogenetics of Olanzapine : with Focus on FMO Gene Polymorphisms

    Författare :Mao Mao Söderberg; Marja-Liisa Dahl; Maria Gabriella Scordo; Inger Johansson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; olanzapine; pharmacogenetics; drug metabolism; schizophrenia; therapeutic drug monitoring; FMO1; FMO3; CYP1A2; UGT1A4; Clinical Pharmacology; Klinisk farmakologi;

    Sammanfattning : Pharmacogenetics is the study of variability in drug response attributed to genetic variation. Olanzapine (OLA) is a widely used antipsychotic drug for schizophrenia treatment. The pharmacokinetics of OLA display large inter-individual variation leading to multiple-fold differences in drug exposure between patients at a given dose. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Gene Polymorphisms and Related Cell Markers in Periodontitis Lesions

    Författare :Mauro Donati; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Allele; B-lymphocyte; cell-surface molecule; cytokine; gene expression; genotype; gingivitis; host response; inflammation; periodontal disease;

    Sammanfattning : Inflammatory and immune reactions to microbial plaque are the predominant features of periodontitis. Epidemiological studies revealed that differences in periodontitis among individuals could not be explained by differences in oral hygiene alone and that not everybody is equally susceptible. 3. 3. Genetic Analysis of Quantitative Traits Using Domestic Animals : A Candidate Gene and Genome Scanning Approach

    Författare :Hee-Bok Park; Leif Andersson; Stefan Marklund; Robert Fredricksson; Holger Luthman; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Domestication; horse; pig; chicken; quantitative traits; candidate gene; genome scan; PRKAG3; MC4R; selection experiment; growth; correlated response; metabolic disorders; Quantitative Trait Loci; linkage; single nucleotide polymorphisms; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik;

    Sammanfattning : Domestication has led to genetic changes that affect quantitative traits in farm animals. Both candidate gene analysis using association tests and genome scans based on linkage analysis have been performed to understand the molecular basis underlying quantitative genetic variation in horses, pigs and chickens. 4. 4. On the Regulation of the Serine Protease t-PA and its Inhibitor PAI-1 in the Brain

    Författare :Karin Hultman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; gene expression; astrocytes; blood-brain barrier; plasminogen activator inhibitor type-1; polymorphisms; protease nexin-1; tissue-type plasminogen activator; transcriptional regulation;

    Sammanfattning : The serine protease tissue-type plasminogen activator (t-PA) is the main fibrinolytic enzyme in the vascular system, and thus plays a critical role in the dissolution of thrombi. In recent years, researchers have focused on its role within the brain, where t-PA has been shown to participate in a number of physiological and pathophysiological processes, including various aspects of synaptic plasticity and neurodegeneration. 5. 5. Coffee and gene interaction. The effect on methionine and lipid metabolism

    Författare :Elisabeth Strandhagen; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :coffee; homocysteine; cholesterol; folate; pyridoxine; MTHFR; APOE; gene; polymorphism; interaction;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Different dietary factors influence the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), most likely in an interaction with genetic polymorphisms. The knowledge about such interactions is insufficient. Some observational studies have shown an association between coffee and CHD, others have not. Coffee consumption affects some CHD risk factors, e. LÄS MER
