  1. 1. Relationships between Atmospheric Circulation and Wind Erosion in Southern Sweden and Australia

    Detta är en avhandling från Marie Ekström, Dept. of Phys. Geog. and Ecos. Anal., V-huset John Ericssons väg 1, 2nd floor

    Författare :Marie Ekström; [2002]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Physical geography; geomorphology; Geologi; fysisk geografi; physical geography; Geology; sea level pressure; atmospheric circulation; erosivity; wind erosion; wind climatology; Scania; Australia;

    Sammanfattning : Wind erosion is a serious threat to soil resources as it causes depletion of the fine fractions that may result in a less fertile soil. Wind erosion encompasses several processes of which many are related to climate variables. To date, there is little work performed on how wind erosion relates to climate and climate change. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Leaf Area Index of Scandinavian Forests Methods Using in situ and Remotely Sensed Data

    Detta är en avhandling från Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science, Lund University

    Författare :Helena Eriksson; [2007]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geologi; fysisk geografi; Physical geography; geomorphology; Geology; physical geography; leaf aggregation; specific leaf area SLA .; Växtekologi; Plant ecology; Leaf area index LAI ; canopy reflectance models; spectral vegetation indices; remote sensing; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with methods of obtaining the leaf area index (LAI) from remotely sensed satellite data. Initially, in situ estimation methods were investigated, since the accuracy of the remotely sensed estimates is dependent on the quality of these estimates. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The zoo-geomorphological impact of fossorial rodents in sub-polar alpine environments

    Detta är en avhandling från Uppsala : Kulturgeografiska institutionen, Uppsala Universitet

    Författare :Bert Eriksson; Jan Boelhowers; John Östh; Hanna Ridefelt; [2011]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; zoo-geomorphology; fossorial rodents; sub-polar; alpine; geomorphic work; ecosystem engineers; NATURAL SCIENCES Earth sciences Exogenous earth sciences Physical geography; NATURVETENSKAP Geovetenskap Exogen geovetenskap Naturgeografi; Geography; Geografi;

    Sammanfattning : The geomorphological impact of small fossorial mammals (adapted to digging and living underground), such as rodents can be significant, and both their direct and indirect effects may contribute to landscape formation. This thesis is based on empirical field studies of two burrowing rodent species in sub-polar environments, namely invasive House mice (Mus musculus) on sub-Antarctic Marion Island and Norwegian lemmings (Lemmus lemmus) in sub-Arctic Abisko. 4. 4. Remote Sensing of Forest Decline in the Czech Republic

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University Press

    Författare :Jonas Ardö; [1998]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Czech Republic; neural networks; sulphur dioxide; air pollution; Norway spruce; deforestation; forest decline; GIS; spectral characteristics; Remote sensing; Landsat; Ore Mountains; Geology; physical geography; Geologi; fysisk geografi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis describes the localisation and quantification of deforestation and forest damage in Norway spruce forests in northern Czech Republic using Landsat data. Severe defoliation increases the spectral reflectance in all wavelength bands, especially in the mid infrared region. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Spatial Variation in Near-Ground Radiation and Low Temperature - Interactions with Forest Vegetation

    Detta är en avhandling från Lund University Press

    Författare :Kristina Blennow; [1997]
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; light interception; hemispherical photograph; growth; forest fragmentation; fluorescence; cold-induced photoinhibition; GIS; view factor; radiative cooling; frost protection; agro-climatic mapping; forest clear-cut; local climate; Microclimate; Physical geography; geomorphology; pedology; cartography; climatology; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi;

    Sammanfattning : Low temperature has a large impact on the survival and distribution of plants. Interactive effects with high irradiance lead to cold-induced photoinhibition, which may impact on the establishment and growth of tree seedlings. LÄS MER
