  1. 1. Influence of Sea Surface Temperature on Rainfall and Runof in Northeastern South America: Analysis and Modeling

    Författare :Cintia Bertacchi Uvo; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; kartografi; marklära; geomorfologi; Fysisk geografi; climatology; pedology; cartography; Physical geography; geomorphology; sea surface temperature; rainfall-runoff; Amazonia; precipitation; Northeast Brazil; klimatologi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi; Hydrogeology; geographical and geological engineering; Hydrogeologi; teknisk geologi; teknisk geografi;

    Sammanfattning : This work represents an amalgam of a group of studies with the purpose of understanding the influence of the Pacific and Atlantic sea surface temperature on precipitation and river discharge in Northeastern South America. Sea surface temperature is a good representative of phenomena such as ENSO that, in turn, cause worldwide climate variability. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Post-Glacial History of Sea-Level and Environmental Change in the Southern Baltic Sea

    Författare :Marloes Kortekaas; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kartografi; klimatologi; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; physical oceanography; meteorology; Sedimentologi; Stratigrafi; Stratigraphy; Baltic Sea; geokemi; Petrologi; mineralogi; geochemistry; mineralogy; Petrology; greigite; mineral magnetics; sea-level changes; Holocene; Littorina transgression; geomorphology; pedology; cartography; climatology; meteorologi; Geophysics; Sedimentology; Optically Stimulated Luminescence OSL ; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; Physical geography;

    Sammanfattning : A new palaeoenvironmental record of the post-glacial history of the southern Baltic Sea (~14 ka to present) is presented. During this period, large water level and salinity changes occurred in the Baltic Basin due to opening and closing of connections to the North Atlantic. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : New results are presented from the investigation of relative sea-level changes in the Nanortalik and Qaqortoq-Narsarsuaq areas in SW Greenland from c. 11 000 cal. years BP to the present. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Simulating the palaeorecord of northern European lakes using a coupled lake-catchment model

    Författare :Jüri Vassiljev; Kvartärgeologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; climatology; cartography; pedology; geomorphology; Physical geography; northern Europe; catchment geometry; Holocene; overflow lakes; climate change; Water- and energy-balance modelling; lake-level changes; Fysisk geografi; geomorfologi; marklära; kartografi; klimatologi; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : A coupled lake-catchment model was developed to examine the controls on lake-level changes in currently overflowing lakes during Holocene. The lake energy-balance is simulated as the one-dimensional vertical heat transfer by eddy diffusion and convective mixing. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Statistical Analysis of Crests and Maxima in Gaussian Seas

    Författare :Jesper Rydén; Matematisk statistik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; physical oceanography; meteorology; Geofysik; programmering; aktuariematematik; fysisk oceanografi; meteorologi; Statistik; operationsanalys; actuarial mathematics; programming; Statistics; operations research; Mathematics; Matematik;

    Sammanfattning : An important problem in ocean engineering is to find distributions for characteristic wave parameters. For wind-generated water waves at deep water, a Gaussian distribution for the wave-surface elevation is considered a reasonable model. LÄS MER
