  1. 6. Post-Dural Puncture Headache in Obstetrics : Audiological, Clinical and Epidemiological studies

    Författare :Bijan Darvish; Anil Gupta; Lars Irestedt; Gunnar Dahlgren; Sigridur Kalman; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Accidental dural puncture; post-dural puncture headache; epidural blood patch; obstetrics; Anestesiologi; Anaesthesiology; Kirurgi; Surgery;

    Sammanfattning : Post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) is the most common complication of obstetric epidural analgesia. The characteristic positional headache, often associated with visual, vestibular or cochlear symptoms, is severe and disabling for the parturient. The diagnosis is clinical without the possibility of confirmatory objective tests. LÄS MER

  2. 7. Safety with Mechanical Chest Compressions in CPR : Clinical studies with the LUCAS™ device

    Författare :David Smekal; Sten Rubertsson; Michael Baubin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cardiac arrest; Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Mechanical chest compressions; Active compression-decompression; Injury; Autopsy; LUCAS; Medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : Chest compressions in cardiopulmonary resuscitation are of utmost importance although not without a risk. Many injuries are described but the incidence of these is hard to define due to methodological differences. It is strenuous to perform chest compressions and therefore mechanical chest compressions have been looked upon with interest. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Healing of endosseous implants with different surface characteristics in grafted and non-grafted bone : clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Måns Jungner; Stefan Lundgren; Malou Hultcrantz; Carina Lundqvist; Peter Nilsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Dental implants; surface characteristics; bone graft; maxillary sinus; implant survival; oxidized surface; turned surface; sinus membrane elevation; bone formation; macrophages; osteocalcin; osteopontin; CD68; odontologi; Odontology;

    Sammanfattning : Aims: This study uses radiological and clinical evaluations of the healing of endosseous titanium implants presented with different surface characteristics in the clinical situation (paper I-III) and experimentally to describe the early bone healing in maxillary sinus membrane elevation with and without the use of grafting material (paper IV).Material and methods: In paper I, 136 patients were treated with 394 dental implants – 199 were oxidized titanium implants (Nobel Biocare TiUnite) and 195 were turned titanium surface implants (Nobel Biocare Mark III). 4. 9. Cardiac effects of non-adrenergic inotropic drugs : clinical and experimental studies

    Författare :Birger Axelsson; Michael Haney; Hans Tydén; Anil Gupta; Patrick Wouters; Sven-Erik Ricksten; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Milrinone; levosimendan; vein graft flow; myocardial ischemia; protection; inotropy; diastole; Anaesthesiology; anestesiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Myocardial failure and dysfunction is not uncommon during critical illness and following cardiac surgery. For optimal treatment, a better understanding of the effects of inotropic drugs is needed. In this thesis, two non-adrenergic mediated inotropes, milrinone and levosimendan were studied in different models of myocardial dysfunction. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Tularemia : epidemiological, clinical and diagnostic aspects

    Författare :Henrik Eliasson; Erik Bäck; Anders Sjöstedt; Clas Ahlm; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : Tularemia is a zoonosis caused by the small, fastidious, gram-negative rod Francisella tularensis that appears over almost the entire Northern Hemisphere. In Sweden, tularemia has appeared mainly in restricted areas in northern parts of central Sweden. LÄS MER
