    Sammanfattning : The extracellular matrix is (ECM) is a network of large, structural proteins and polysaccharides, important for cellular behavior, tissue development and maintenance. Present thesis describes work exploring ECM as scaffolds for tissue engineering by manipulating cells cultured in vitro or by influencing ECM expression in vivo. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Defining the role of CD47 and SIRPα in murine B cell homeostasis

    Författare :Shrikant S Kolan; Per-Arne Oldenborg; Mikael Karlsson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; B cells; CD47; SIRPα; Follicular B cell; Marginal zone macrophages; immunologi; Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : B cell development is a highly organized process, which commences in the fetal liver during embryogenesis and in the bone marrow (BM) after birth. Surface IgM+ immature B cells emigrate from the BM via the blood stream to the spleen and finally differentiate into conventional mature follicular B (FoB) cells and marginal zone (MZ) B cells. 3. 3. Bioengineering and Cell-derived Strategies for Salivary Gland Regeneration

    Författare :Jiao DONG; Lungbioengineering och regeneration; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular vesicles; precision-cut tissue slices; histology scoring; sustainable histology; salivary gland; human dental pulp stem cells; extracellulära vesiklar; stamceller från mänsklig tandmassa; precisionsskurna vävnadsskivor; Spottkörtel; hållbar histologi och histologipoäng;

    Sammanfattning : Xerostomia (dry mouth symptoms) is a group of incurable debilitating conditions of salivary glands caused by aging, radiation/chemical exposure, or aberrant inflammation in the salivary glands. During this PhD thesis, we aimed to evaluate whether cell-derived strategies (e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Dynamic aspects of nucleocytoplasmic trafficking

    Författare :Cecilia Rustum; Einar Hallberg; Urs Greber; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Cellular structures and compartmentalization is the result of a dynamic steady state exchange between its components. This thesis is focused in investigations of dynamic properties of green fluorescent protein (GFP)-labeled proteins in live cells using confocal laser microscopy in combination with bleaching techniques such as fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) and fluorescence loss in photobleaching (FLIP). Författare :Hans Boström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; platelet-derived growth factor; PDGF-A; PDGF-C; PDGF alpha receptor; extracellular retention; gene targeting; mouse development; epithelial-mesenchymal interaction; lung; alveolar formation; spina bifida; gastrointestinal villus;

    Sammanfattning : Altered protein kinase activity is a contributing factor in many diseases including most formsof human malignancies, and there is reason to believe that protein kinases will prove to be majordrug targets in the treatment of cancer. Protein kinases mediate most of the signal transduction ineukaryotic cells, regulating cellular events such as transcription, metabolism, proliferation,cytoskeletal rearrangement, migration, differentiation and apoptosis.
