16. Advancements in DSC and BOLD perfusion imaging: Acquisition, analysis and clinical application
Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on perfusion MRI techniques and topics related to image acquisition, analysis and clinical applications. The first half of the thesis is focused on dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) MRI, a technique which is based on the contrast enhancements caused by an intravenously administered paramagnetic contrast agent. 19. Measurement and Analysis of Intracardiac Blood Flow and Vortex Ring Formation
Sammanfattning : Increased understanding of the pumping mechanics of the heart are of great importance to develop diagnostics, treatment and prognostics for cardiovascular diseases. Blood flow in the heart is connected to its anatomy and function, and may therefore be a sensitive marker of cardiac health and disease. LÄS MER
20. Blood pressure, renal functional and structural changes, in normal and preeclamptic pregnancy
Sammanfattning : The kidneys play a pivotal role in the adaptive physiology of the pregnant woman, presenting some changes at term similar to the changes found in preeclampsia – a state of increased risk of fetal and maternal morbidity and mortality. The aim of these investigations was to explore possible similarities in blood pressure regulation, renal function and structure in normal term and preeclamptic pregnancy, to ascertain whether both conditions in fact are different degrees of an adaptive process in reaction to pregnancy.
