   Sammanfattning : Cancer is a multi-step process where the accumulation of several genetic and epigenetic alterations drives the transformation of a normal cell to a malignant cell, skipping the normal control of defense, repair and apoptosis. During the selection process towards a malignant phenotype, the transforming cells make use of normal (physiological) extracellular signaling pathways to create growth advantage over normal cells.    Sammanfattning : Insulin like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R) has been shown to be important for cancer cell growth and survival, and is often overexpressed in malignant and premalignant tissues. Ligand binding to IGF-1R induces transphosphorylation and activation of the receptor, leading to subsequent activation of the phosphatidyl inositol-3 kinase (PI3K), the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and the 14-3-3 pathways.    Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), a member of the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase family is a broadly expressed transmembrane receptor that plays a key role in malignant cell growth.    Sammanfattning : The aims of the present study were to investigate the effects of prenatal factors in children born after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and peri- and postnatal factors in children born preterm on visual function and ocular fundus morphology at school age. In the children born preterm the ophthalmologic outcomes, including optic nerve morphology were analysed in relation to gestational age (GA), birth weight (BW) standard deviation score (SDS), serum levels of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I), weight at week 32 (SDS), and weight, length and head circumference (SDS) at school age.
