1. Lead in blood. ICP-MS studies of lead in plasma, blood and erythrocyte proteins
Sammanfattning : An inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) method for the determination of lead in blood plasma has been developed. The detection limit was below 0.1 microgram/liter, and the precision 5%. There was no significant difference between levels in plasma and serum. LÄS MER
2. Bioanalysis using capillary electrophoresis and mass spectrometry : Applied on proteins, protein nanofibrils and polyvinyl alcohol microbubbles
Sammanfattning : The sequencing of the genome of various species, including the human species, have led to increased understanding about how a protein structure is generated, and how specific structures are related to the proteins’ functionality. In paper I and II of this thesis, the folding of proteins in vitro to form hierarchical nanostructures, which in vivo often have a pathological effect, have been studied. LÄS MER
3. Crustacean immunity : Characterization of some crayfish blood proteins
Sammanfattning : The cDNA sequence and some properties of a previously purified #x03B2;-1,3-glucan binding protein are reported here. The putative amino acid sequence (predicted molecular mass: 152 kDa) of the protein did not show any significant similarity to any known protein, but an RGD motif and a region with slight similarity to bacterial glucanase was found. 4. Structure and distribution of alpha-1-microglobulin proteins
Sammanfattning : This thesis describes studies of the structure and tissue distribution of alpha-1-microglobulin (a1-m), a member of the lipocalin protein superfamily with immunosuppressive properies. It was shown that a1-m appears in human plasma in five major forms. LÄS MER
5. Multiplexed absolute quantification of blood plasma proteins using targeted proteomics
Sammanfattning : Proteins are the molecular building blocks of all living organisms. They are the functioning actors in metabolism and communication, and they give specific architecture and purpose to all tissues. Their abundance is dynamic and can be interpreted and associated to different physiological states or diseases. LÄS MER
