  1. 6. Toxicometabolomics and biotransformation product screening in single zebrafish embryos

    Författare :Anton Ribbenstedt; Jonathan P. Benskin; Magnus Breitholtz; Elena Gorokhova; Emma Schymanski; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Non-target; REACH; Orbitrap; single embryo; zebrafish embryo; metabolism; high throughput; hydroxylation; glucuronidation; metabolite screening; phase I; phase II; pharmaceutical; structure elucidation; conjugation; propranolol; beta blocker; Non-targeted; toxicometabolomics; Orbitrap; single embryo; 3R; metabolomics; MoA; mode of action; zebrafish embryo; carbamazepine; biotransformation; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decade environmental agencies worldwide have escalated their work to phase out animal testing for the purposes of chemical regulation. Meanwhile the number of commercially available chemicals and the requirements for hazard assessments have both increased, creating a large need for substitution of traditional in vivo assays with in vitro tests. 2. 7. Ultrasound features of human carotid plaques

    Författare :Gerd Östling; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atherosclerosis; carotid plaques; echogenicity; diabetes; obesity; beta-blocker; grey scale median;

    Sammanfattning : Atherosclerotic plaques in the carotid arteries are common in a middle-aged population. When a carotid plaque ruptures it may result in a cerebrovascular event. However, only a minor part of carotid plaques will eventually rupture. Finding those plaques is essential to decide the most appropriate treatment strategy. LÄS MER

  3. 8. The Association Between Beta-Blockade and Clinical Outcomes in the Context of Surgical and Traumatic Stress

    Författare :Rebecka Ahl; Shahin Mohseni; Louis Riddez; Göran Wallin; Olle Ljungqvist; Jonathan Tilsed; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Beta-blocker therapy; adrenergic hyperactivity; physiological stress; trauma; depression; colorectal cancer; complications; mortality;

    Sammanfattning : Traumatic injury and major abdominal surgery are areas in general surgery associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality. The overall colorectal cancer surgery mortality rate is around 4%, with that for emergency surgery more than twice as high as for planned. Surgical morbidity varies between 25% and 45%. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Screening for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy in Asymptomatic Children and Adolescents. Psychosocial consequences and impact on quality of life and physical activity

    Författare :Ewa-Lena Bratt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Adolescents; Beta-blocker therapy; children; exercise performance; family screening; hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; parents experiences; psychosocial consequences; quality of life; transition;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis was to describe the consequences of being diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) while being asymptomatic, taking into consideration psychosocial effects and medical aspects of diagnosis and treatment. Methods: Quality of life (QoL) was measured according to Lindström before the diagnosis, and after two years, comparing with healthy controls. LÄS MER

  5. 10. Atrial fibrillation : clinical presentation and prevention of recurrences

    Författare :Anna Nergårdh; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Atrial fibrillation; arrhythmias; beta-blocker; cardioversion; symptoms;

    Sammanfattning : Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained arrhythmia of clinical importance. AF is known to decrease quality of life and it is related to an increased morbidity and a risk of tromboembolic events. AF may also be asymptomatic, and to what extent patients actually are able to distinguish between sinus rhythm (SR) and AF is unknown. LÄS MER
