  1. 16. Importance of cardiac reserve for evaluation and prediction of cardiac function and morbidity assessed by low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography

    Författare :Margareta Scharin Täng; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Stress echocardiography; Heart failure; Beta-1-adrenoceptor; Cardiac reserve;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to evaluate the cardiac reserves capacity to be used to predict treatment effects, sub clinical heart disease and to evaluate b1-adrenoceptor (AR) gene polymorphism (Ser49Gly). Studies were performed in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, in rats (young, healthy, diabetic and hypertensive), in mice (immunized against the ?1AR) and in heart-transplanted patients. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Pharmacogenomics of Antihypertensive Treatment & Clinical Pharmacological Studies of Digoxin Treatment

    Författare :Pär Hallberg; Håkan Melhus; Ann-Christine Syvänen; Lars Lind; Jiguang Wang; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Molecular medicine; pharmacogenomics; irbesartan; atenolol; hypertension; digoxin; RIKS-HIA; atrial fibrillation; heart failure; Molekylärmedicin; Molecular medicine genetics and pathology ; Molekylär medicin genetik och patologi ;

    Sammanfattning : In Part I we found that the CYP2C9 genotype appears to influence the diastolic blood pressure response to the angiotensin II-receptor antagonist irbesartan in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. Those with the *1/*2 genotype (slower metabolism) responded better than those with the *1/*1 genotype (normal metabolism), likely due to a slower elimination of the drug. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Left ventricular function's relation to load, experimental studies in a porcine model

    Författare :Roman A'roch; Michael Haney; Jan Poelaert; Lars-Åke Brodin; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heart function; preload; afterload; contractility; myocardial tissue velocity; speckle tracking; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Cardiology; kardiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Loading conditions are recognized to influence ventricular function according to the Starling relationship for length/stretch and force.  Many modern echocardiographic parameters which have been announced as describing ventricular function and contractile status, may be confounded by uncontrolled and unmeasured load. 4. 19. Inflammation and immunothrombosis in cerebral cavernous malformation : Novel molecular targets for the treatment of an incurable disease

    Författare :Maria Ascención Globisch; Peetra Magnusson; Elisabetta Dejana; Marie Jeansson; Anna Randi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Cavernoma; Inflammation; Coagulation; Blood-brain-barrier; Blood; Hypoxia; Propranolol; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär immunologi; Biology with specialization in Molecular Immunology;

    Sammanfattning : Cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM) is a vascular disease that causes mulberry-like lesions (cavernomas) in the central nervous system (CNS). Cavernomas are fragile, leaky and prone to rupture which may cause symptoms such as epileptic seizures, focal neurological deficits and hemorrhagic strokes. CCM lesions can appear sporadically in 0. 5. 20. Observational and experimental studies of drug treatment of infection and myocardial infarction/depression in a hospital in St. Petersburg

    Författare :Ksenia Goryachkina; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :St Petersburg; hospital; routine drug use; epidemiological studies; experimental studies; myocardial infarction; metoprolol; paroxetine; CYP2D6; antibiotics; microbial resistance; drug interaction; drug utilization;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Treatment of infectious and cardiac diseases represents subjects of great concern for health care all over the world, e.g. in Russia. Major problems may occur in routine use of the drugs that need to be timely considered. LÄS MER
