  1. 1. The γ-aminobutyric acid and proton signaling systems in the zebrafish brain : Characterization and effect of stress

    Författare :Arianna Cocco; Svante Winberg; William H. J. Norton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; g-aminobutyric acid GABA ; GABAA receptors; adult zebrafish; central nervous system; gene expression profiling; extracellular acidification.; Biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The central nervous system of vertebrates is continuously processing sensory information relayed from the periphery, integrating it and producing outputs transmitted to efferents. In the brain, neurons employ an array of messenger molecules to filter afferent information and finely regulate synaptic transmission. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Physiological roles of amyloid precursor protein in vivo - zebrafish as a model

    Författare :Jasmine Chebli; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Amyloid-beta precursor protein; amyloid precursor protein-b; zebrafish; physiological functions; development; trigeminal ganglia; ependyma; cilia; proteomics; translational adaptation;

    Sammanfattning : Amyloid-beta precursor protein (APP) is an evolutionarily conserved transmembrane protein expressed in many different tissues. APP belongs to a gene family consisting of two other APP-like proteins (APLP1 and APLP2). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hitting the mark : studies of alterations in behaviour and fertility in ethinyl estradiol-exposed zebrafish and search related biomarkers

    Författare :Nasim Reyhanian Caspillo; Inger Porsch Hällström; Per-Erik Olsson; Håkan Olsén; Leif Norrgren; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Endocrine disrupting compounds; 17α-ethinylestradiol; fertility; anxiety; behaviour; zebrafish; biomarkers; stress; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we have analysed the effects of EE2 on non-reproductive behaviours and fertility. We have showed that two doses of EE2 in male adult short-term exposures evokes opposite behaviours in the novel tank test. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Toxicometabolomics and biotransformation product screening in single zebrafish embryos

    Författare :Anton Ribbenstedt; Jonathan P. Benskin; Magnus Breitholtz; Elena Gorokhova; Emma Schymanski; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Non-target; REACH; Orbitrap; single embryo; zebrafish embryo; metabolism; high throughput; hydroxylation; glucuronidation; metabolite screening; phase I; phase II; pharmaceutical; structure elucidation; conjugation; propranolol; beta blocker; Non-targeted; toxicometabolomics; Orbitrap; single embryo; 3R; metabolomics; MoA; mode of action; zebrafish embryo; carbamazepine; biotransformation; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Over the last decade environmental agencies worldwide have escalated their work to phase out animal testing for the purposes of chemical regulation. Meanwhile the number of commercially available chemicals and the requirements for hazard assessments have both increased, creating a large need for substitution of traditional in vivo assays with in vitro tests. 5. 5. The role of Six1 in muscle progenitor cells and the establishment of fast-twitch muscle fibres

    Författare :Hanna Nord; Jonas von Hofsten; Freek van Eeden; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Myogenesis; zebrafish; muscle fibre; patterning; fmyhc; myl1; Six1; Pax7;

    Sammanfattning : Myogenesis is the process of skeletal muscle tissue formation where committed muscle progenitor cells differentiate into skeletal muscle fibres. Depending on the instructive cues the muscle progenitor cells receive they will differentiate into specific fibre types with different properties. LÄS MER
