  2. 7. The calcitonin gene family of peptides : receptor expression and effects on bone cells

    Författare :Susanne Granholm; Ulf Lerner; Pernilla Lundberg; Göran Andersson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CT family of peptides; osteoclast differentiation; bone resorption; CTR; CRLR; RAMPs; Cell biology; Cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The calcitonin gene family of peptides consists of calcitonin (CT), two calcitonin gene related peptides (α-CGRP, β-CGRP), adrenomedullin (ADM), amylin (AMY), three calcitonin receptor activating peptides (CRSP1-3) and intermedin/adrenomedullin2 (IMD). These peptides bind to one of two G protein -coupled receptors, the calcitonin receptor (CTR) or the calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CRLR). LÄS MER

  3. 8. Stress Management Interventions and Predictors of Long-term Health : Prospectively Controlled Studies on Long-term Pain Patients and a Healthy Sample from IT- and Media Companies

    Författare :Dan Hasson; Ulla Maria Anderberg; Töres Theorell; Ulf Lundberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Social medicine; stress; health promotion; stress management; public health; psychosocial; self-rated health; pain; intervention; web; Internet; TNF-alpha; DHEA; NPY; CgA; Socialmedicin; Social medicine; Socialmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis reports on the effects of stress management on long-term pain patients and on a healthy sample from IT and media companies; two groups that are commonly exposed to high stress levels. Even if there are important differences between these two groups, there are similarities such as the necessity for effective stress management. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Psychophysiological reactions to experimental stress : relations to pain sensitivity, position sense and stress perception

    Författare :Marina Heiden; Eugene Lyskov; Tohr Nilsson; Ulf Lundberg; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :public health; autonomic activity; cognitive-behavioral training; muscle oxygenation; physical activity; position sense; pressure-pain thresholds; sick leave; stress; Occupational and Environmental Medicine; arbets- och miljömedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Stress and monotonous work contribute substantially to the development of chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Yet, the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the process, particularly the involvement of autonomic regulation, remain unclear. LÄS MER

    Författare :Sofi Jonsson; Erik Björn; Ulf Skyllberg; Erik Lundberg; Per Persson; Robert Mason; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mercury; methylmercury; aquatic systems; estuary; Hg; MeHg; bioaccumulation; methylation; demethylation; evasion; sediment; water; terrestrial sources; atmospheric sources; climate change; eutrophication;

    Sammanfattning : Monomethylmercury, MeHg, is formed under anoxic conditions in waters, sediments and soils and then bioaccumulated and biomagnified in aquatic food webs, negatively effecting both human and wildlife health. It is generally accepted that precipitation of mercury, Hg, and adsorption of Hg to e.g. LÄS MER
