  1. 21. DNA-dependent protein kinase in normal and malignant cells : with special reference to anti-tumour agent sensitivity

    Författare :Åsa Holgersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :DNA-PK; lymphoid maturation; lymphocytic leukaemia; radiation sensitivity; drug sensitivity; drug resistance; sensitisation.;

    Sammanfattning : The DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) is a DNA double strand break (DSB) repair enzyme, essential for the cellular response to DNA damaging agents. DNA-PK is also of importance for lymphoid development, since it includes two processes, V(D)J recombination and lg switch recombination, during which DSBs are naturally occurring events. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Apoptosis, cellular division or mitotic catastrophe? Effects of kinase inhibition and DNa damage in lung cancer cells

    Författare :Anna Therése Helén Hemström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells are generally characterized by a low response to conventional anti-cancer agents, such as DNA-damaging drugs. Treatments that induce DNA damage relies on cellular signalling resulting in the induction of growth arrest and apoptotic cell death. LÄS MER

  3. 23. Experimental and clinical studies on liver regeneration and hepatocellular carcinoma : roles of redox proteins, iron homeostasis and multikinase inhibition

    Författare :Annelie Mollbrink; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Compensatory liver regeneration is triggered by chronic liver injury or surgery and is crucial to maintain tissue homeostasis. The underlying mechanisms which include a whole battery of complex signaling events have been thoroughly studied for decades. LÄS MER

  4. 24. The significance of urokinase-type plasminogen activator (u-PA) in tumour growth and Linomide-induced upregulation of u-PA's endogenous inhibitor PAI-2

    Författare :Anita Billström; Lund Obstetrik och gynekologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; reproduction; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; roquinimex; Linomide; cancer; prostate cancer; PAI-2; plasmin; Plasminogen activators; u-PA; sexuality; Obstetrik; gynekologi; andrologi; reproduktion; sexualitet; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : The progressive process of tumour invasion and generation of metastases is the primary cause of death for most patients with cancer. Some of the regulatory components of this progressive process are adhesion, migration, and proteolysis. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Retinoids in experimental neuroblastoma therapy

    Författare :Frida Ponthan; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Vitamin A; retinoids; neuroblastoma; 9-cis RA; Ro 13-6307; differentiation; apoptosis; growth inhibition; 13-cis RA; fenretinide; proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy; pharmacokinetic.;

    Sammanfattning : Retinoids are analogues of vitamin A, with documented activity against various malignant cell types. Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumour of the sympathetic nervous system that shows a complex clinical and biological heterogeneity, often with poor outcome despite intensive multimodal therapy. LÄS MER
