  1. 21. Pulsed Tissue Doppler and left ventricular filling in acute coronary syndromes

    Författare :Cecilia Wallentin Guron; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Tissue Doppler; pulsed; regional timing; time interval; the E e filling index; E E; ; diastolic function; left ventricular filling pressure; right ventricular pressure; left atrial size.;

    Sammanfattning : Pulsed tissue Doppler is a new technique, which can investigate longitudinal left ventricular(LV) function, by measuring tissue velocities and timings. Patients with acute coronarysyndromes (ACS) frequently display a reduced longitudinal function. They also developglobal LV filling impairment. LÄS MER

  2. 22. Leptin and the Intersection of Cardiovascular Disease, Metabolism, and Adipose Tissue

    Författare :Camilla Vavruch; Fredrik Nyström; Carl Johan Östgren; Johan Ärnlöv; Kristina Boström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Leptin; Type 2 diabetes mellitus; Adipose tissue; Cardiovascular disease; Metabolism; Cardiovascular risk factors;

    Sammanfattning : According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels, and it is the leading cause of death worldwide. The risk factors for CVD are divided into two major classes: non-modifiable (age, gender, family history) and modifiable (including tobacco use, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, abdominal obesity, high cholesterol, dyslipidemia, and stress). 3. 23. Studies on Tissue Factor with Focus on Cell Signaling and Cancer

    Författare :Oskar Eriksson; Agneta Siegbahn; Lina Badimon; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue Factor; blood coagulation; cell signaling; protease; mass spectrometry; immunohistochemistry; colorectal cancer; apoptosis; Eph receptor; Klinisk kemi; Clinical Chemistry; Molekylär cellbiologi; Molecular Cellbiology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis have explored the functions of the protein Tissue Factor (TF), which together with its ligand coagulation factor VII/VIIa (FVII/FVIIa) forms a proteolytic complex that functions in initiation of blood coagulation and activation of cell signaling.In paper I, the mechanisms behind the observation that TF/FVIIa signaling protects cells from apoptosis were further investigated. 4. 24. Analysis of Perfluoroalkyl Acids in Swedish Biota : Temporal trends, tissue distribution and toxicity

    Författare :Katrin Holmström; Urs Berger; Gregg Tomy; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Environmental chemistry; PFOS; PFAS; pollutant; Baltic guillemot; peregrine falcon; Monoporeia affinis; time trend; toxicity; Environmental chemistry; Miljökemi; Persistent organic compounds; Persistenta organiska föreningar; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Perfluorinated alkyl acids (PFAS) are ubiquitous environmental contaminants. They are found in high concentrations in top predators worldwide, with perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) as the predominant compound. LÄS MER

  5. 25. Tissue Factor regulation, signaling and functions beyond coagulation with a focus on diabetes

    Författare :Desireé Edén; Agneta Siegbahn; Sofia Ramström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Tissue factor; diabetes; cell signaling; coagulation; beta cells; adipocytes; apoptosis; lipolysis; micro RNA; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Sammanfattning : Background: Tissue factor (TF) is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein best known for initiating the coagulation cascade upon binding of its ligand FVIIa. Apart from its physiological role in coagulation, TF and TF/FVIIa signaling has proved to be involved in diseases such as diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular diseases. LÄS MER
