16. Metabolism of quinoline 3-carboxamide compounds, a group of synthetic immunomodulators, in various species
Sammanfattning : Cytochrome P450 (CYP) is involved in the metabolism of the majority of clinically used drugs. We have studied the CYP mediated metabolism of quinoline 3-carboxamides, a group of synthetic immunomodulators in liver microsomal preparations from various species. LÄS MER
17. Exploring Novel Catalytic Chalcogenide Antioxidants
Sammanfattning : This thesis is concerned with the synthesis and evaluation of regenerable chalcogen containing antioxidants. Variously substituted 2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]selenophene-5-ol antioxidants were evaluated in order to gain information about structure/reactivity-relationships. LÄS MER
18. Design and Synthesis of Enzyme Inhibitors Against Infectious Diseases : Targeting Hepatitis C Virus NS3 Protease and Mycobacterium tuberculosis Ribonucleotide Reductase
Sammanfattning : Infectious diseases, including hepatitis C and tuberculosis, claim the lives of over 15 million people each year. Hepatitis C is caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV) which infects the liver and can ultimately result in liver transplantation. HCV is very adaptive as a result of its high mutation rate. LÄS MER
19. Ultrafast Photo-induced Reaction Dynamics of Small Molecules
Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is the investigation of the dissociation dynamics of aryl halides using femtosecond pump-probe spectroscopy. In the monohalogenated aryl halides, iodo-, bromo- and chlorobenzene, the rate of dissociation following excitation at 266 nm in the gas phase increased with increasing mass of the halogen atom. 20. Application of chemical oxidation processes for the removal of pharmaceuticals in biologically treated wastewater
Sammanfattning : The discharge of effluents from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) is considered to be the major source of residual pharmaceuticals frequently found in aquatic environments. The complex nature of such compounds tends to make conventional biological treatments aimed at their removal ineffective. LÄS MER
