  1. 1. On the role of gut microbiota in intestinal physiology and hepatic metabolism

    Författare :Mattias Bergentall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; microbiota; metabolism;

    Sammanfattning : The gut microbiota, a complex and dynamic community of microbes in the mammalian gut, has coevolved with us for ample time providing mutual benefits. However, mechanistic knowledge of these has been limited, but are now becoming increasingly clear. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Metabolism of quinoline 3-carboxamide compounds, a group of synthetic immunomodulators, in various species

    Författare :Helen Tuvesson; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; enzymologi; Proteiner; enzymology; Proteins; Gastroenterologi; Gastro-enterology; pharmacokinetics; enzyme kinetics; quinoline 3-carboxamides; Keywords: Metabolism; cytochrome P450;

    Sammanfattning : Cytochrome P450 (CYP) is involved in the metabolism of the majority of clinically used drugs. We have studied the CYP mediated metabolism of quinoline 3-carboxamides, a group of synthetic immunomodulators in liver microsomal preparations from various species. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Occupational exposure to fluorinated ski wax

    Författare :Helena Nilsson; Jonathan W. Martin; Örebro universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Perfluorinated; polyfluorinated; FIS; occupational exposure; ski wax; biotransformation; metabolism; fluorotelomer alcohol; fluorotelomer acid; aerosol; dust; UPLC MS-MS; GC MS-MS; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS) are used in the production of ski wax to reduce the friction between the snow and the ski. In this occupational study of ski wax technicians’ exposure to PFAS and particulate aerosol we have collected whole blood (wb) (n =94), air (n =84) and aerosol (n =159) samples at World Cup events from 2007-2011. 4. 4. Mapping Phenolics Metabolism and Metabolic Engineering of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for Increased Endogenous Catabolism of Phenolic Compounds

    Författare :Peter Adeboye; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; toxicity; Keywords: Phenolic compounds; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; conversion; inhibitor;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractSustainable, biotechnological utilization of non-food, plant biomass has been demonstrated to be a viable means of producing energy, fuels, materials and chemicals, representing a paradigm shift from fossil-derived sources. However, the presence of chemicals that inhibit fermentation by microorganisms such as Saccharomyces cerevisiae, commonly used for bioconversion, causes a bottleneck in such processes. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A genomic approach to smooth muscle differentiation and diversity

    Författare :Sven Nelander; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Keywords: smooth muscle; phenotype; transcriptional regulation; differentiation; transcriptome; microarray; computational prediction; co-expression network; regulatory sequence analysis; gene module; gene battery;

    Sammanfattning : Smooth muscle cells (SMCs) are a broad class of contractile cells that are found in a number of organs systems, including the vasculature, the urogenital system, the bronchi and the gastrointestinal tract. The two main functions exerted by SMCs are to provide contractile force and to synthesize structural components of the extracellular matrix. LÄS MER
