1. Platforms and strategies harnessing signaling pathways of multifactorial diseases by multispecific antibodies
Sammanfattning : Abstract [ENG]Proteins govern a multitude of biological functions vital to sustain life. The ability to withstand diseases development and harboring a defense against foreign pathogens is attributed to the wonders of the immune system and the proteins and cells its comprised of. LÄS MER
2. Immunoglobulin-binding bacterial surface proteins; biomedical tools and virulence factors
Sammanfattning : Many bacteria express immunoglobulin(Ig)-binding proteins that interact with Ig in a non-immune manner. Several of these Ig-binding bacterial proteins have been well characterized and are widely used as reagents for analysis and purification of Ig's. LÄS MER
3. The spatiotemporal protein landscape of human cells
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the spatiotemporal mapping of proteins at a subcellular level. In other words, determining the cellular location of proteins over time. From a biological point of view, knowledge about protein location is fundamental to understand protein function. LÄS MER
4. Plasminogen and protein PAM: Interactions between streptococcal surface proteins and the human fibrinolytic system
Sammanfattning : Pathogenic bacteria often produce potent proteases capable of destroying host tissue thereby providing the bacteria with tools for spreading and nutrient access. This thesis describes how group A, C and G streptococci can acquire surface bound protease activity through an alternative mechanism, namely by binding and activation of the human protease precursor plasminogen. 5. Pro- and anticoagulant activities of factor V
Sammanfattning : Coagulation factor V (FV) is activated by thrombin through proteolytic cleavage at Arg-709, Arg-1018 and Arg-1545. Upon thrombin activation, the active form of factor V (FVa) is formed. FVa functions as a cofactor to factor Xa in the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin during coagulation. LÄS MER
