  1. 31. Exploring Unorthodox Aquaporins : Characterization of NbXIPs & AtNIPs

    Författare :Henry Ampah-Korsah; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Aquaporins; XIPs; NIPs; Phosphorylation; Pichia pastoris; Overexpression; boric acid; membrane proteins;

    Sammanfattning : AbstractAquaporins are membrane integral proteins that facilitate the transport of waterand/or other small neutral molecules across biological membranes in cells in allforms of life. Among the subfamilies of aquaporins in higher plants, the X IntrinsicProteins (XIPs) are the most recently discovered subfamily and the leastcharacterized. LÄS MER

  2. 32. Galanin : Studies by Modification of the Ligand and the Receptor

    Författare :Anders Juréus; Claes-Göran Östeson; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Other chemistry; Övrig kemi; neurokemi och neurotoxikologi; Neurochemistry and Neurotoxicology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is devoted to the deeper understanding of the molecular details of the interaction between the neuropeptide galanin and its target protein, the G-protein coupled 7TM galanin receptor. The enzymatic control of galanin degradation and second messenger systems triggered by galanin receptor activation are also studied. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Regulation of dioxin receptor function by the Hsp90 chaperone complex

    Författare :Arunas Kazlauskas; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In mammals the basic helix-loop-helix/Per-Arnt-Sim (bHLH/PAS) family of transcription factors includes the dioxin receptor which is a ligand-dependent transcription factor which mediates biological effects of environmental pollutants such as 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-rho-dioxin (dioxin). In the absence of ligand, the dioxin receptor is associated with the molecular chaperone Hsp90 and two Hsp90-interacting proteins, the co-chaperone p23 and an immunophilin-like protein XAP2. LÄS MER

  4. 34. Biophysical studies of membrane associated peptides

    Författare :Jesper Lind; Astrid Gräslund; Lena Mäler; Christian Griesinger; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR; spectroscopy; membrane interaction; bicelles; Chemistry; Kemi; Biophysics; biofysik;

    Sammanfattning : A large part of the processes in living organisms involves proteins acting in a biological membrane. Biophysical studies on isolated model systems can give important understandings of the complicated biological mechanisms in the membrane. In this thesis peptide membrane interaction mechanisms are studied in several different systems. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Genetic studies of neuroblastoma with emphasis on the apoptotic pathway

    Författare :Frida Abel; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :child; cancer; neuroectodermal; neural crest; loss of heterozygosity; LOH; bcl-2; mcl-1; apaf-1; caspase-2; caspase-3; caspase-9; PIN; DLC-1; caspase-2;

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The objective of this thesis was to find genes and chromosomal regions involved in neuroblastoma (NB) tumor progression. NB is a childhood tumor of the sympathetic nervous system that generally occurs spontaneously. LÄS MER
