  1. 1. Climate, Conflict and Coping Capacity : The Impact of Climate Variability on Organized Violence

    Författare :Nina von Uexkull; Erik Melander; Hanne Fjelde; Jack A. Goldstone; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; civil conflict; communal conflict; climate change; climate variability; Sub-Saharan Africa; Kenya; geo-referenced event data; agricultural dependence; vulnerability; Peace and Conflict Research; Freds- och konfliktforskning;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the conflict potential of climate variability is critical for assessing and dealing with the societal implications of climate change. Yet, it remains poorly understood under what circumstances – and how – extreme weather events and variation in precipitation patterns affect organized violence. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hydrological Modeling for Climate Change Impact Assessment : Transferring Large-Scale Information from Global Climate Models to the Catchment Scale

    Författare :Claudia Teutschbein; Jan Seibert; Chris Kilsby; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bias Correction; Climate Change; Climate Models; Ensembles; GCM; HBV; Hydrological Modeling; Precipitation; RCM; Split Sample Test; Streamflow; Sweden; Temperature; Uncertainty; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Sammanfattning : A changing climate can severely perturb regional hydrology and thereby affect human societies and life in general. To assess and simulate such potential hydrological climate change impacts, hydrological models require reliable meteorological variables for current and future climate conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Grasslands in a changing climate : Summer drought and winter warming effects on grassland vegetation

    Författare :Nina Roth; Sara A. O. Cousins; Carly Stevens; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES; biodiversity; climate change; compost; floral resources; grasslands; in-situ experiments; mowing; nectar; open-top chambers; plants; rain-out shelters; sheep grazing; soil amendments; summer drought; winter warming; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Grasslands harbour a high biodiversity of both plants and animals, and they provide many ecosystem services such as fodder production, pollination, and carbon storage. Climate change is likely to alter grassland ecosystems, with the effects varying according to the exact nature and timing of changes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Model analysis of ocean carbon storage and transport across climate states

    Författare :Malin Ödalen; Jonas Nycander; Johan Nilsson; Kevin I. C. Oliver; Nathaelle Bouttes-Mauhourat; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Oceanography; Climate; Climate model; Carbon cycle; Paleoclimate; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Sammanfattning : The ocean carbon cycle plays a fundamental role in the Earth’s climate system, on decadal to multi-millennial timescales. Of the carbon held in the ocean, the atmosphere, and the terrestrial biosphere combined, more than 90% resides in the ocean. Carbon enters the surface ocean through air-sea gas exchange and from terrestrial sources. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The Baltic Sea from the present to future : microbial carbon & nutrient cycling in a changing climate

    Författare :Laura Seidel; Mark Dopson; Jarone Pinhassi; Ashfaq Ali; Stefan Hulth; Linnéuniversitetet; []

    Sammanfattning : Climate Change is caused by the accelerated increase of anthropogenic greenhousegas emissions to the atmosphere and affects all ecosystems on our planet. A resultof higher CO2 uptake by the oceans as well as an increase of heat trapped in theatmosphere leads to, for example acidification, stratification, sea-level rise, oxygenloss, and temperature increase of the earth’s waterbodies.
