21. Modelling Approaches to Molecular Systems Biology
Sammanfattning : Implementation and analysis of mathematical models can serve as a powerful tool in understanding how intracellular processes in bacteria affect the bacterial phenotype. In this thesis I have implemented and analysed models of a number of different parts of the bacterium E. coli in order to understand these types of connections. LÄS MER
22. Adenovirus for Cancer Therapy : With a Focus on its Surface Modification
Sammanfattning : Adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) is widely used as an oncolytic agent for cancer therapy. However, its infectivity is highly dependent on the expression level of coxsackievirus-adenovirus receptor (CAR) on the surface of tumor cells. LÄS MER
23. Studies on the Molecular Biology of the Mouse Pneumotropic Polyomavirus
Sammanfattning : The Murine Pneumotropic Virus (MPtV), in contrast to the other MurinePolyomavirus (MPyV), appears to be non-tumourigenic in its natural host. Instead, MPtV causes acute pneumonia and can serve as a model in studies of polyomavirus-induced disease. In initial experiments, MPtV large T-antigen (LT) was expressed in a heterologous system. 24. A systems biology understanding of protein constraints in the metabolism of budding yeasts
Sammanfattning : Fermentation technologies, such as bread making and production of alcoholic beverages, have been crucial for development of humanity throughout history. Saccharomyces cerevisiae provides a natural platform for this, due to its capability to transform sugars into ethanol. LÄS MER
25. Systems Biology of Yeast Lipid Metabolism
Sammanfattning : Lipid metabolism plays an important role in the development of many different life-style related diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis, and understanding the molecular mechanisms behind regulation of lipid biosynthesis and degradation may lead to development of new therapies. In this project we undertook a global study of lipid metabolism in the eukaryotic model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae. LÄS MER
