  1. 26. Control of Multi-Agent Systems with Applications to Distributed Frequency Control Power Systems

    Författare :Martin Andreasson; Karl H. Johansson; Wei Ren; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Multi-agent systems are interconnected control systems with many application domains. The first part of this thesis considers nonlinear multi-agent systems, where the control input can be decoupled into a product of a nonlinear gain function depending only on the agent's own state, and a nonlinear interaction function depending on the relative states of the agent's neighbors. 2. 27. Travel – a risk factor for disease and spread of antibiotic resistance

    Författare :Martin Angelin; Helena Palmgren; Birgitta Evengård; Anders Johansson; Anu Kantele; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Accident Prevention; Alcohol Drinking; Anti-Bacterial Agents; Antimalarials; Beta-Lactamases; Drug-Resistance; Bacterial; Enterobacteriaceae; Health Knowledge; Attitudes; Practice; High-Throughput Nucleotide Sequencing; Medication Adherence; Metagenome; Metagenomics; Patient Compliance; Proteobacteria; Risk Reduction Behaviour; Risk-Taking; Safe Sex; Travel medicine; Travel; Vaccination; Infectious Diseases; infektionssjukdomar; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : As international travel is rapidly increasing, more people are being exposed to potentially more antibiotic resistant bacteria, a changed infectious disease epidemiology, and an increased risk of accidents and crime. Research-based advice is needed to adequately inform travellers about these risks. LÄS MER

  3. 28. Limit theorems for generalizations of GUE random matrices

    Författare :Martin Bender; Kurt Johansson; Arno Kuijlaars; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Random matrices; Central limit theorem; Dyson s Brownian motion; Interacting diffusion; Point process; Non-Hermitian; Scaling limit; MATHEMATICS; MATEMATIK;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis consists of two papers devoted to the asymptotics of random matrix ensembles and measure valued stochastic processes which can be considered as generalizations of the Gaussian unitary ensemble (GUE) of Hermitian matrices H=A+A†, where the entries of A are independent identically distributed (iid) centered complex Gaussian random variables. In the first paper, a system of interacting diffusing particles on the real line is studied; special cases include the eigenvalue dynamics of matrix-valued Ornstein-Uhlenbeck processes (Dyson's Brownian motion). 4. 29. Effects of repetitive work on proprioception and of stretching on sensory mechanisms : implications for work-related neuromuscular disorders

    Författare :Martin Björklund; Håkan Johansson; Albert Crenshaw; Ronny Lorentzon; Måns Magnusson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Repetitive motions; Muscle fatigue; Proprioception; Muscle stretching; Work-related musculoskeletal disorders; Nociception; Ergonomics; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; medicin; Medicine;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of the thesis were (i) to investigate the impact of repetitive low-intensity work exposure on proprioception and (ii) to examine effects of muscle stretching (especially sensory effects and effects on muscle nociception) and to relate its application to the prevention, alleviation and/or treatment of work-related neuromuscular disorders. The effects of low-intensity repetitive work on the shoulder proprioception were tested in healthy subjects. LÄS MER

  5. 30. Hyaluronan and the receptor CD 44 in the heart and vessels : a study in normal and pathological conditions

    Författare :Martin Hellström; Anna Engström-Laurent; Bengt Johansson; Lena Jonasson; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :hyaluronan; CD44; heart; Rat; cardiac hypertrophy; artery; vein; human; Medicine; medicin;

    Sammanfattning : Tissues are not solely composed of cells. The extracellular matrix is important for the cell well-being and cell-cell communication. The glycosaminoglycan hyaluronan (HYA) is a widely distributed extracellular matrix (ECM) component. LÄS MER
