  1. 6. Colorectal cancer and radiation response : The role of EGFR, AKT and cancer stem cell markers

    Författare :Sara Häggblad Sahlberg; Bo Stenerlöw; Bengt Glimelius; Marika Nestor; Torgny Stigbrand; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; colorectal cancer; radiation; AKT; EGFR; cancer stem cells; CD133; CD44; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär cellbiologi; Biology with specialization in Molecular Cell Biology;

    Sammanfattning : The primary treatment for colorectal cancer is surgery. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy, sometimes combined, are also frequently used to diminish recurrence risk. In response to radiation exposure, several cellular signaling cascades are activated to repair DNA breaks, prevent apoptosis and to keep the cells proliferating. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : Head and neck cancer is a heterogeneous group of tumours, of which certain subgroups such as cancer of the mobile tongue frequently are associated with a relatively poor prognosis due to the high risk of regional failure and mortality rates that haven’t improved in a significant way over the last 3 decades, despite advancements in both diagnostics and treatment.Today we lack means to assess the biological aggressiveness of each individual tumour, which varies largely. Sammanfattning : Cancers presents a major health challenge, and there is a pressing need to develop new therapeutic strategies. Surgery, chemotherapy and radiation are the most commonly used treatments for cancer today. Radiation can be given as targeted radionuclide therapy (TRT), i.e. LÄS MER

  4. 9. Preclinical Development of Imaging Agents for HER2 Expression in Prostate Cancer Using Radiolabeled Affibody Molecules

    Författare :Jennie Malmberg; Anna Orlova; Vladimir Tolmachev; Marika Nestor; Eric O. Aboagye; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical Science; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science; Biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis is focused on pre-clinical evaluation of in vivo detection of HER2-expression in prostate cancer (PCa) patients and on the possibility of using targeted molecular imaging to personalize treatment of disseminated PCa. The work is divided into three distinct parts: (1) the establishment of a preclinical model for further studies, (2) imaging of HER2 in a murine model of PCa and (3) exploration of new treatment regimes against PCa. 5. 10. Biomarkers in the tumor microenvironment with impact on treatment response and survival in head and neck cancer

    Författare :Nataša Matić; Karin Roberg; Emilia Wiechec; Marcus Ressner; Lovisa Farnebo; Marika Nestor; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Head and neck squamous cell cancer (HNSCC) is the sixth most common cancer type worldwide and disease detects at a locally advanced stage in approximately 60% of all patients with HNSCC. Despite the advances in both diagnosis and treatment of cancer, therapy failure with local recurrence and second primary tumors as consequences is still a huge problem. LÄS MER
