  1. 6. Gender dimensions in family life : a comparative study of structural constraints and power in Sweden and Japan

    Författare :Mieko Takahashi; Jane Millar; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Sociology; Sociologi; Sociology; sociologi;

    Sammanfattning : The main aim of this thesis is to analyze and compare women’s experiences, choices and practices in family life relative to men’s. The central questions addressed are: How does the gender structure in societies alter the gendered distribution of resources in society and the division of paid and unpaid work in families? What types of gender structures in societies allow women to exercise power in the family? Sweden and Japan are chosen as comparative cases since these two societies represent opposite ends of the spectrum of welfare regime typologies in terms of gender logics; one is based on equality and institutional individualization (Sweden), while the other is structured around gender difference, male breadwinner norms and policies to support them (Japan). 2. 7. Perceptions of disease. Values and attitudes of patients and medical students

    Författare :Annika Brorsson; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; values; risk factor; autonomy; Attitudes; consultation; disability; disease; family history; family medicine; fear; identity; illness; medical education; medical students; patient-centred; qualitative method; primary care; Social medicine; Socialmedicin; samhällsmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : During the 20th century, the development of biomedical knowledge and the demographical changes have increased the needs and demands for health care in industrialised countries. Illness without evidence of disease and fear of disease are often the reasons for seeking medical care. LÄS MER

  3. 8. Mating system evolution and self-incompatibility in the wild plant species Brassica cretica

    Författare :Kristina Aaltonen; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mating system; Brassicaceae; Brassica cretica; recombination; frequency-dependent selection; evolution; population structure; segregation distortion; SCR; self-incompatibility; SRK;

    Sammanfattning : Compared to animals like ourselves, plants have a very flexible sexual life. Most plants are, for example, hermaphrodites with the potential capacity for reproduction by self-fertilization (or selfing). LÄS MER

  4. 9. The role and mechanism of ubiquitin system in innate immune regulation

    Författare :Swarupa Panda; Nelson O. Gekara; Fredrik Elgh; Anna Överby; Geert van Loo; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; The ubiquitin system; Deubiquitinase; MYSM1; Innate immune regulation Toll-like receptor; RIG-l like receptors; Cytoplasmic DNA receptors; NOD-like receptors; Francisella tularensis; Immune subversion; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs) include the cell surface or endosomal membrane localized Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and the cytoplasmic PRRs such as RIG-I-like receptors (RLRs), NOD-like receptors (NLRs) and cytoplasmic DNA receptors (CDRs). Triggering of PRRs culminates in the transcriptional induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines and type I interferons (IFNs) that coordinate protection against pathogens but require tight control to avert inflammatory diseases. 5. 10. Fungal Lectins. Molecular structure and function of a member of a novel lectin family

    Författare :Stefan Rosén; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; possible functions; expression; localization; binding specificities; primary and secondary structure; Agaricus bisporus; Arthrobotrys oligospora; Fungi; novel lectin family; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : Lectins defined as non-enzyme, non-immunoglobulin carbohydrate binding proteins, have been found in a wide variety of viruses, bacteria, fungi, plants and animals. Although lectins have been purified from more than 60 different species of fungi, the structure and biological functions of these proteins are not well known. LÄS MER
