  1. 1. The role and mechanism of ubiquitin system in innate immune regulation

    Författare :Swarupa Panda; Nelson O. Gekara; Fredrik Elgh; Anna Överby; Geert van Loo; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; The ubiquitin system; Deubiquitinase; MYSM1; Innate immune regulation Toll-like receptor; RIG-l like receptors; Cytoplasmic DNA receptors; NOD-like receptors; Francisella tularensis; Immune subversion; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs) include the cell surface or endosomal membrane localized Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and the cytoplasmic PRRs such as RIG-I-like receptors (RLRs), NOD-like receptors (NLRs) and cytoplasmic DNA receptors (CDRs). Triggering of PRRs culminates in the transcriptional induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines and type I interferons (IFNs) that coordinate protection against pathogens but require tight control to avert inflammatory diseases. 2. 2. The Path to Destruction : Understanding the mechanism and regulation of proteasomal degradation

    Författare :Anne Beskow; Patrick Young; Ylva Engström; Bernat Crosas; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Proteasome; ubiquitin; p97; Cnc-C; transcription factors; Nrf1; Nrf2; Molecular Biology; molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : A majority of intracellular proteins are degraded by the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS). In this thesis, both the mechanism of the degradation and the regulation of UPS have been investigated. The importance of the p97 ATPase for proteasomal degradation of cytosolic substrates was examined. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The ubiquitin-proteasome system during proteotoxic stress

    Författare :Victoria Menéndez Benito; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Ubiquitin; proteasome; green fluorescent protein GFP ; degradation; inhibitor; neurodegeneration; stress;

    Sammanfattning : The dual function of the ubiquitin-proteasome system in protein quality control and as a master regulator of vital cellular processes places the system in a delicate position. This might be particularly relevant under patho-physiological conditions such as endoplasmic reticulum stress, which provoke the accumulation of aberrant proteins. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Regulation of Drosophila Jun by phosphorylation and the ubiquitin system during eye development

    Författare :Anders Isaksson; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; eye development; ubiquitin; D-Jun; phosphorylation; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of these studies has been to elucidate the biological relevance of post-translational modifications in the context of a living organism. The model system used is photoreceptor differentiation during development of the compound eye in the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The role of the ubiquitin-proteasome system in neurodegenerative disorders

    Författare :Lisette Gerridina Gezina Catharina Verhoef; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :Degradation; green fluorescent protein GFP ; neurodegeneration; polyglutamine; proteasome; UBB 1; ubiquitin;

    Sammanfattning : Neurodegenerative disorders are a heterogeneous group of clinically and pathologically diverse diseases. The diseases are characterised by selective loss of neurons. in specific regions of the brain. The result is disruption of motor, sensory or cognitive systems, leading to severe disability of the patients. LÄS MER
