  1. 1. The role and mechanism of ubiquitin system in innate immune regulation

    Författare :Swarupa Panda; Nelson O. Gekara; Fredrik Elgh; Anna Överby; Geert van Loo; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; The ubiquitin system; Deubiquitinase; MYSM1; Innate immune regulation Toll-like receptor; RIG-l like receptors; Cytoplasmic DNA receptors; NOD-like receptors; Francisella tularensis; Immune subversion; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Pattern-recognition receptors (PRRs) include the cell surface or endosomal membrane localized Toll-like receptors (TLRs) and the cytoplasmic PRRs such as RIG-I-like receptors (RLRs), NOD-like receptors (NLRs) and cytoplasmic DNA receptors (CDRs). Triggering of PRRs culminates in the transcriptional induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines and type I interferons (IFNs) that coordinate protection against pathogens but require tight control to avert inflammatory diseases. 2. 2. Male Subfertility and Prostate Cancer Risk: Epidemiological and Genetic Studies

    Författare :Yasir Ruhayel; Malmö Molekylärgenetisk reproduktionsmedicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; cytoplasmic and nuclear; Receptors; Prostatic neoplasms; genetic; Polymorphism; male; Infertility; Hypogonadism; Genetic association studies; Case–control studies; Androgens;

    Sammanfattning : Androgen action plays a pivotal role in male reproductive tract physiology and pathology. The androgen receptor (AR) gene harbors two codon repeat tracts: the CAG and GGN repeats, encoding corresponding amino acid sequences of variable length; the polyglutamine and polyglycine stretches, respectively. 3. 3. Tumor Cell Targeting of Stabilized Liposome Conjugates : Experimental studies using boronated DNA-binding agents

    Författare :Erika Bohl Kullberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biomedicine; Liposome; EGF; HER-2; Targeting; boron; Biomedicin; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi; Biomedical Radiation Science; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : To further develop cancer therapy, targeted delivery of cell killing agents directly to tumor cells is an interesting approach. This thesis describes the development of PEG-stabilized liposome conjugates targeting either epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) using its natural ligand EGF, or human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER-2) using the antibody trastuzumab. 4. 4. Insulin-like growth factor-II : cellular effects through different receptors

    Författare :Qimin Zhang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-II) and IGF-I are single-chain polypeptides structurally homologous to proinsulin and share similarities with insulin in functional characteristics. Cellular actions of IGF-II are generally thought to be mediated through the IGF-I or insulin receptors, but not the IGF-II receptor, which is a single chain protein, identical to the cation independent mannose 6-phosphate (M6P) receptor and responsible for lysosomal enzyme targeting and degradation of IGF-II. 5. 5. Roles in innate immune receptors : host – pathogen interactions and strengthening vaccines

    Författare :Sanna Nyström; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : During the past decades our knowledge of innate immunology has increased drastically. This has improved our understanding about how innate immune cells can distinguish self from non-self, commensal bacteria from pathogens, and how it affects later adaptive immune responses. LÄS MER
