    Sammanfattning : The endeavour of this dissertation is to search for an understanding of the restructuring withinthe Swedish Comprehensive School System during the 80's and 90's. To that purpose the authorhas described the political intentions of the current restructuring (in terms of decentralization,freedom of choice and privatization) and the teachers' conceptions of the school changes.     Sammanfattning : The aim of this study is to generate a grounded theory that explains the content of teachers' and students' work with personal development dialogues and individual development plans using written assessments, all regulated in the national result-oriented curriculum for the Swedish compulsory school.     Sammanfattning : The topic of the present dissertation is teachers’ everyday dilemmas and the use of language to deal with these dilemmas.
