  1. 16. Molecular ecology of marine mammals

    Författare :Morten Tange Olsen; Per Palsbøll; Martine Bérubé; William “Bill” Amos; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Marine mammals; molecular ecology; life history; environmental change; phenotypic plasticity; SNPs; telomeres; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Marine mammals comprise a paraphyletic group of species whose current abundance and distribution has been greatly shaped by past environmental changes and anthropogenic impacts. This thesis describes molecular ecological approaches to answer questions regarding habitat requirements, genetic differentiation, and life-history trade-offs in three species of marine mammals. 2. 17. Population Genetics and Genome Organization of Norway Spruce

    Författare :Hanna Larsson; Martin Lascoux; Bruno Fady; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Picea abies; demographic history; linkage disequilibrium; HMPR; Biologi med inriktning mot evolutionär funktionsgenomik; Biology with specialization in Evolutionary Functional Genomics;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the underlying genetic causes of adaptation to local conditions is one of the main goals of population genetics. A strong latitudinal cline in the phenotypic trait of bud set is observed in present day populations of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst). LÄS MER

  3. 18. Molecular population genetics of inducible defense genes in Populus tremula

    Författare :Carolina Bernhardsson; Stefan Jansson; Santiago González-Martinez; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Populus; herbivore defense; adaptation; population genetics; population structure; association mapping; complex traits; evolutionär genetik; evolutionary genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Plant-herbivore interactions are among the most common of ecological interactions. It is therefore not surprising that plants have evolved multiple mechanisms to defend themselves, using both constitutive chemical and physical barriers and by induced responses which are only expressed after herbivory has occurred. 4. 19. Neurospora tetrasperma from Natural Populations : Toward the Population Genomics of a Model Fungus

    Författare :Pádraic Corcoran; Hanna Johannesson; Sylvain Glemin; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Neurospora; poulation genetics; genomes; introgression; Evolutionary Genetics; Evolutionär genetik;

    Sammanfattning : The study of DNA sequence variation is a powerful approach to study genome evolution, and to reconstruct evolutionary histories of species. In this thesis, I have studied genetic variation in the fungus Neurospora tetrasperma and other closely related Neurospora species. I have focused on N. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Mended by masticates : A study of archaeogenetic proxies of migration, settlement and health in North Eurasian Mesolithic

    Författare :Natalija Kashuba; Anders Kaliff; Mattias Jakobsson; Torun Zachrisson; Tiina Maria Mattila; Lehti Saag; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Archaeogenetics; Mesolithic population genetics; human identity; post-LGM hunter-gatherer societies; aDNA; metagenomics; masticates pitch resin; molecular paleopathology; Archaeology; Arkeologi; Biology with Specialisation in Human Evolution and Genetics; Biologi med inriktning mot människans evolution och genetik;

    Sammanfattning : A joint archaeogenetic perspective integrates diverse lines of evidence from archaeology and paleogenetics to advance our understanding of human prehistory. In this thesis I contribute to the corpus of archaeogenetic data by producing and analysing ancient genomic data from osseous and masticated material. LÄS MER
