  1. 1. Molecular ecology of marine mammals

    Författare :Morten Tange Olsen; Per Palsbøll; Martine Bérubé; William “Bill” Amos; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Marine mammals; molecular ecology; life history; environmental change; phenotypic plasticity; SNPs; telomeres; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Sammanfattning : Marine mammals comprise a paraphyletic group of species whose current abundance and distribution has been greatly shaped by past environmental changes and anthropogenic impacts. This thesis describes molecular ecological approaches to answer questions regarding habitat requirements, genetic differentiation, and life-history trade-offs in three species of marine mammals. 4. 4. Monitoring persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in sub-Arctic and Arctic marine mammals, 1984 - 2009

    Författare :Anna Rotander; Bert van Bavel; Magnus Engwall; Jacob de Boer; Örebro universitet; []

    Sammanfattning : The Arctic has become an important indicator region for assessing persistence and bioaccumulation properties of persistent organic pollutants (POPs). This thesis is aimed at evaluating the occurrence of persistent halogenated POPs in seven species of sub-Arctic and Arctic marine mammals over a 25-year period. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Reading bones : Stone Age hunters and seals in the Baltic

    Författare :Jan Storå; Jan Ekman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Epiphyseal fusion; Harp seal; Marine mammals; Neolithic; Pitted Ware culture; Ringed seal; Seal hunting; Seasonality; Taphonomy; arkeologi; Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : This is a study of hunters and seals in the Stone Age in the Baltic. The ambition has been to develop and utilize methods for osteological analyses of archaeological seal bones. The main aims of the zooarchaeological analyses have been to study seal hunting strategies and the formation processes of the faunal remains. LÄS MER
