1. Konstruktioner av den sexuella familjen : styrning av föräldrablivande i rättslig reglering av assisterad befruktning och juridiskt föräldraskap
Sammanfattning : This doctoral thesis deals with the Swedish legal regulation of becoming a parent. It covers the regulation of legal parental status and of health care-provided assisted reproduction. LÄS MER
2. Molecular determinants of disease severity in urinary tract infection
Sammanfattning : In the urinary tract, Escherichia coli infection may result in life-threatening disease, or asymptomatic bacterial carriage, comparable to bacterial commensalism in the gut. Pathogenic strains trigger a disease provoking host response which differs depending on the infected organ. LÄS MER
3. Swedish donor offspring and their legal right to information
Sammanfattning : All donor offspring conceived under the Swedish Genetic Integrity Act or the now-repealed Act on Insemination, from gametes donated after 1 March 1985, have the right to obtain identifying information about the donor when they are sufficiently mature. Despite this, studies undertaken in Sweden and abroad reveal that many donor offspring will never be able to exercise their right to information because their parents do not tell them how they were conceived. 4. Condition dependent germline maintenance in seed beetles
Sammanfattning : The aim of the work presented in this thesis is to investigate how costly adaptations promoted by sexual selection affect fertility and offspring quality through changes in germline maintenance. Germline maintenance, comprising mechanisms maintaining DNA-integrity and homeostasis within germ cells, is known to be costly and, therefore, may trade-off with other costly reproductive traits that are under sexual selection. 5. Alterations of the short arm of chromosome 9p in lymphoid malignancies
Sammanfattning : Malignant disease evolves through the successive accumulation of genetic lesions affecting growth-controlling genes in the cell-clone undergoing malignant transformation. 9p21 has long been suspected to harbour a tumour suppressor gene, because of frequent deletions of this region in malignancies including acute lymphocytic leukaemia (ALL).
