16. Metastable Alumina from Theory: Bulk, Surface, and Growth of κ-Al2O3
Sammanfattning : Aluminas are materials of high technological importance that show a fascinating structural flexibility, with a large amount of different phases (alpha, gamma, eta, delta, kappa, chi, ...) and phase transitions at relatively high temperatures. LÄS MER
17. Atomic Scale Design of Clean Energy Materials : Efficient Solar Energy Conversion and Gas Sensing
Sammanfattning : The focus of this doctoral thesis is the atomic level design of photocatalysts and gas sensing materials. The band gap narrowing in the metal oxides for the visible-light driven photocatalyst as well as the interaction of water and gas molecules on the reactive surfaces of metal oxides and the electronic structure of kaolinite has been studied by the state-of-art calculations. 18. Gas exchange with a reflecting system for inhalational anaesthesia
Sammanfattning : In order to reduce comsumption of inhalational anaesthetsics during high flow anaesthesia a system open in regard to oxygen, nitogen and nitrous oxide, but closed to inhalational anaesthetics, was developed. This was achieved by a reflecting filter for inhalational anaesthetics made of active carbon. LÄS MER
19. Functional Nanostructures for Gas Sensors
Sammanfattning : This research focuses on three main topics within the aims of FUNMAT, which are:Ohmic contacts to high-temperature chemical gas sensors.Studies of catalytic monolayers on active gate metal in SiC-based gas sensors.Investigating potential sensing properties of the nanoscale material MXene. 20. Catalytic Conversion of Undesired Organic Compounds to Syngas in Biomass Gasification and Pyrolysis Applications
Sammanfattning : Reliable energy supply is a major concern and crucial for development of the global society. To address the dependency on fossil fuel and the negative effects of this reliance on climate, there is a need for a transition to cleaner sources. An attractive solution for replacing fossil-based products is renewable substitutes produced from biomass. LÄS MER
