1. Ischaemic heart disease - risk assessment, diagnosis, and secondary preventive treatment in primary care : with special reference to the relevance of exercise ECG
Sammanfattning : Background: Ischaemic heart disease is a diagnostic and therapeutic challenge to most general practitioners. We sought to identify diagnostic characteristics and prognoses of patients in primary care that received exercise electrocardiography (ECG). We compared the ECG test results with respect to probability of subsequent cardiologist referrals. LÄS MER
2. Filtering and Wavelet Regression Methods with Application to Exercise ECG
Sammanfattning : The analysis of the recorded electrical activity of the heart during an exercise test is a valuable method for investigating a patient's circulatory and respiratory system. But the disturbances that occurr during a test often make it difficult to interpret the signal in order to detect changes evoked by the increased workload and related to for instance coronary artery diseases. 3. Autonomic cardiac control in long QT syndrome : clinical studies of arrhythmogenic triggers
Sammanfattning : Background: Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is an inherited cardiac disease characterized by prolonged cardiac repolarization and an increased risk for life-threatening arrhythmias. These arrhythmias are typically triggered by adrenergic stimuli, such as physical activity and intense emotions, implicating that the sympathetic part of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) is involved in arrhythmogenesis. 4. Diagnostic and Prognostic Value of Exercise Electrocardiographic Test Variables in Coronary Artery Disease
Sammanfattning : The diagnostic performance of conventional analysis of the exercise electrocardiographic (ECG) test for the detection of coronary artery disease (CAD) is limited to 70-75%. The exercise ECG test is the most widely used non-invasive method for assessing CAD and even a small improvement in the diagnostic performance is important. LÄS MER
5. Myocardial electromechanical function in long QT syndrome
Sammanfattning : AIM: The aim of this thesis is to assess, in LQTS and according to genotype, the myocardial electromechanical (EM) function response to exercise, its relation to symptoms and its response to b-blocker therapy. To achieve this aim, we conducted 4 studies with the following specific objectives: i. LÄS MER
