1. Importance of cardiac reserve for evaluation and prediction of cardiac function and morbidity assessed by low-dose dobutamine stress echocardiography
Sammanfattning : This thesis aimed to evaluate the cardiac reserves capacity to be used to predict treatment effects, sub clinical heart disease and to evaluate b1-adrenoceptor (AR) gene polymorphism (Ser49Gly). Studies were performed in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy, in rats (young, healthy, diabetic and hypertensive), in mice (immunized against the ?1AR) and in heart-transplanted patients. LÄS MER
2. Detection of Myocardial Ischemia using Real-Time Myocardial Contrast Echocardiography
3. Myocardial electromechanical function in long QT syndrome
Sammanfattning : AIM: The aim of this thesis is to assess, in LQTS and according to genotype, the myocardial electromechanical (EM) function response to exercise, its relation to symptoms and its response to b-blocker therapy. To achieve this aim, we conducted 4 studies with the following specific objectives: i. LÄS MER
4. Myocardial Effects of Type 2 Diabetes, Co-morbidities, and Changing Loading Conditions : a Clinical Study by Tissue Velocity Echocardiography
Sammanfattning : Ever since the validation of the tissue velocity echocardiography (TVE) technique more than a decade ago the modality has been used rather successfully in various clinical situations, at rest as well as during stress echocardiography. Hitherto, dobutamine stress echocardiography has been the hallmark of all forms of stress procedures, now with TVE, quantification of the longitudinal motions of the left ventricle shows far superiority, with improved sensitivity and specificity in the functional diagnosis of coronary artery disease. 5. Unstable post-infarction ischemia : identification and risk stratification with special emphasis on noninvasive methods
Sammanfattning : Although in-hospital mortality after acute myocardial infarction has decreased, long-term mortality is still high. This study tested the prognostic value of detecting residual myocardial ischemia by different techniques in 74 patients recovering from an acute myocardial infarction. LÄS MER
