    Författare :Christoph Nowak; Tove Fall; Erik Ingelsson; Johan Sundström; Rachel Freathy; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; insulin resistance; diabetes; insulin secretion; cardiovascular; mendelian randomization; proteomics; metabolomics; genomics; molecular epidemiology; complex disease; risk prediction; coronary heart disease; stroke; hyperglycemia;

    Sammanfattning : The worldwide increasing number of persons affected by largely preventable diseases like diabetes demands better prevention and treatment. Insulin is required for effective utilisation of circulating nutrients. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Genetics of Diabetes Subtypes. Characterization of novel cluster-based diabetes subtypes

    Författare :Dina Mansour Aly; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Precision medicine; Diabetes Subclassification; genome-wide association studies; GWAS; genetic risk scores; GRS; chronic kidney disease; CKD; diabetic kidney disease; DKD; Estimated glomerular filtration rate; eGFR; ANDIS; diabetes; diabetics;

    Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) has been reproducibly clustered into five subtypes based on six-clinical variables; age at diabetes onset, body mass index (BMI), Glutamic acid decarboxylase autoantibodies (GADA), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and insulin secretion and resistance estimated as HOMA2B and HOMA2IR derived from fasting glucose and Cpeptide. These subtypes have different disease progression and risk of complications. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Patient Perspectives brought to the Fore for Diabetes Care : Descriptions as well as Development and Testing of the Diabetes Questionnaire

    Författare :Maria Svedbo Engström; Soffia Gudbjörnsdottir; Janeth Leksell; Katarina Eeg-Olofsson; Unn-Britt Johansson; Margareta Kristensson; Högskolan Dalarna; []

    Sammanfattning : Aim: The overall aims were to describe perspectives of living with diabetes, to develop a patient-reported outcome and experience measure for the Swedish National Diabetes Register, and to initiate the evaluation of evidence of measurement quality for that measure. A further aim was to describe health-related quality of life and to assess its associations with glycaemic control. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Genetic and Metabolic Markers for the Development of Diabetes after Gestational Diabetes Mellitus

    Författare :Magnus Ekelund; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oral glucose tolerance tests; Genetics; Autoimmunity; Insulin sensitivity; Gestational diabetes mellitus; Insulin secretion; HbA1c; Fasting glucose; FTO-gene; Postpartum diabetes;

    Sammanfattning : The aims of this work were to determine the prevalence of postpartum diabetes among women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in a prospective study 5 years postpartum; to characterize these women according to insulin secretion, insulin sensitivity, autoimmunity and genetics; and to identify possible markers and predictors for the development of manifest diabetes. The subjects were recruited through a regional screening programme in which oral glucose tolerance tests (OGTTs) are routinely offered to all pregnant women. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Genetic and immunological risk factors of gestational diabetes mellitus

    Författare :Nael Shaat; diabetes och endokrinologi Genomik; []

    Sammanfattning : Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a heterogeneous disorder that is defined as carbohydrate intolerance with onset or first recognition during pregnancy. Impaired beta-cell function and insulin resistance are the hallmarks of GDM. LÄS MER
