    Sammanfattning : Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with the incidence rapidly increasing in Europe over the past two decades. Reliable biomarkers for prostate cancer are currently unavailable.     Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the immunohistochemical expression of transforming growth factor beta(TGFβ) isoforms, their receptors and TGF-β-related SMAD proteins in brain pathology, chiefly in-farcts.     Sammanfattning : Transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) signaling is initiated when the ligand binds to type II and type I serine/threonine kinase receptors at the cell surface.
