  1. 16. A clinical positron emission tomography facility : 2-¹⁸FDG studies : development and results

    Författare :Tomas G Ohlsson; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; radiology; Clinical physics; head and neck cancer; monitoring therapy effect; quantification; normalization; 511 keV SPECT; rotating PET scanner; 2-[18-F]FDG; isotope production; 18-F; PET; positron emission tomography; tomography; medical instrumentation; Klinisk fysiologi; radiologi; tomografi; medicinsk instrumentering; Fysicumarkivet A:1996:Ohlsson;

    Sammanfattning : Positron emission tomography (PET) is a tracer technique used for quantitative in vivo studies of physiological and biochemical processes. Because of the use of positron-emitting radionuclides such as 11-C, 13-N, 15-O and 18-F, which are isotopes of the biologically ubiquitous elements, it is possible to label radiopharmaceuticals which trace biochemical processes precisely. 2. 17. HIV Persistence and Viral Reservoirs

    Författare :Arvid Edén; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; HIV-1; antiretroviral therapy; latency; cerebrospinal fluid; central nervous system; efavirenz; lopinavir; atazanavir; neopterin; viral decay;

    Sammanfattning : Although antiretroviral therapy (ART) can effectively inhibit replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), the virus is able to persist in cellular and anatomical viral reservoirs. Latently infected resting memory CD4+ T-cells are an important cellular reservoir, and the central nervous system (CNS) an important anatomical reservoir for HIV-1 infection. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy. Therapy Settings and Biological Effects in Peripheral Wounds

    Författare :Ola Borgquist; Lund Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Negative pressure wound therapy; vacuum-assisted closure; wound healing;

    Sammanfattning : Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) promotes wound healing through several mechanisms, e.g., altered periwound blood flow, mechanical deformation of the wound edge tissue, and drainage of excess fluid and debris. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Utility of novel drug targets for treatment of metastatic cancer

    Författare :Tianyan Wang; Jenny Persson; Thomas Grundström; Maréne Landström; Margareta Wilhelm; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Metastatic cancer; castration-resistant prostate cancer; pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma; target therapy; PIP5K1α; KRAS; molecularly imprinted polymers; Oncology; onkologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; Medical Cell Biology; medicinsk cellbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : Metastasis is the leading cause of cancer death because of a lack of early diagnosis tools and efficient treatment drugs. The lipid kinase phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate 5 kinase (PIP5K1α) has been shown to play a vital role in the PI3K/AKT and KRAS signaling pathways. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Bioengineering and Cell-derived Strategies for Salivary Gland Regeneration

    Författare :Jiao DONG; Lungbioengineering och regeneration; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; extracellular vesicles; precision-cut tissue slices; histology scoring; sustainable histology; salivary gland; human dental pulp stem cells; extracellulära vesiklar; stamceller från mänsklig tandmassa; precisionsskurna vävnadsskivor; Spottkörtel; hållbar histologi och histologipoäng;

    Sammanfattning : Xerostomia (dry mouth symptoms) is a group of incurable debilitating conditions of salivary glands caused by aging, radiation/chemical exposure, or aberrant inflammation in the salivary glands. During this PhD thesis, we aimed to evaluate whether cell-derived strategies (e.g. LÄS MER
