  1. 1. Regulation of gene expression in fruit flies : how does it start, and will it be remembered?

    Författare :Aman Zare; Per Stenberg; Yuri B. Schwartz; Åsa Rasmuson-Lestander; Guillaume Filion; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; epigenetics; transcription; gene regulation; transcription maintenance; CBP; polymerase pausing; Polycomb group proteins; transgenerational inheritance of transcriptional response; gut microbiome; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Sammanfattning : One of the most distinctive features of eukaryotic chromosomes is the bundling of DNA together with functionally associated RNA and proteins in chromatin. This allows huge amounts of DNA to be packed inside the very tiny space of the nucleus, and alterations in the structure of chromatin enable access to the DNA for transcription (“reading” genes by production of RNA copies). 2. 2. Regulation of immunoglobulin transcription

    Författare :David Liberg; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; N-substituted benzamides; NFkB; transcription; B cells; immunoglobulin; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : Each Ig V-region has its own upstream promoter and the promoter of a mature Ig gene is thereby selected during the V(D)J recombination process. Upon comparison, it is evident that only one transcription factor binding site, the octamer, is preserved within all promoters. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Gene regulation by Early B-cell Factor (EBF)

    Författare :Peter Åkerblad; Immunologi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; Immunology; B-lymphocytes; Differentiation; Transcription; EBF; Gene regulation; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this study we aimed at defining genes that are controlled by Early B-cell Factor (EBF), that could explain the severe block in B-cell development observed in EBF-/- mice. The fact that EBF appears to be important for the transcriptional control of genes encoding proteins in the pre-B and B-cell receptor complex implied to us that EBF could be a common regulator of other components in the pre-B and B-cell receptor. 4. 4. Tripeptidyl-Peptidase II : Structure, Function and Gene Regulation

    Författare :Ann-Christin Lindås; Birgitta Tomkinson; Mikael Widersten; Ralf Morgenstern; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Biochemistry; gene regulation; protein expression; enzyme kinetics; tripeptidyl-peptidase II; proteasome; intracellular protein degradation; exopeptidase; Biokemi;

    Sammanfattning : The protein degradation process is of vital importance for the cell to maintain cellular functions. An important enzyme in this process is the multimeric tripeptidyl-peptidase II (TPP II). It removes tripeptides from a free N-terminus of the substrates. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Gene regulation during development by chromatin and the Super Elongation Complex

    Författare :Olle Dahlberg; Mattias Mannervik; Peter Gergen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila development; gene regulation; transcription; chromatin; P-TEFb; Super Elongation Complex; KDM4A; H3K36me3; H3K14ac; histone replacement; utvecklingsbiologi; Developmental Biology;

    Sammanfattning : Developmental processes are carefully controlled at the level of transcription to ensure that the fertilized egg develops into an adult organism. The mechanisms that controls transcription of protein-coding genes ultimately ensure that the Pol II machine synthesizes mRNA from the correct set of genes in every cell type. LÄS MER
