1. Anatomical studies of hypothalamic thyrotropin-releasing hormone : implications for motivated states
Sammanfattning : The survival of every animal as an organism and species depends on three motivated states: ingestive, defensive and reproductive. Regulation of these states is coordinated by the hypothalamus through the coordination of three principal output pathways: behavioural, endocrine and autonomic. LÄS MER
2. The influence of status epilepticus on adeno-pituitary hormone secretion in man : with special reference to prolactin
Sammanfattning : Epileptic seizures as well as antiepileptic drugs (AED) may interfere with the hypothalamic pituitary axis (HPA) and have neuroendocrine effects. A transient increase of prolactin (PRL) and cortisol in serum after generalised tonic-clonic or complex partial seizures has been one of the most consistent findings, although absences and myoclonic seizures, as well as seizures of very short duration, do not seem to affect PRL levels. 3. Regulation of gene transcription by the thyroid hormone receptors
Sammanfattning : Thyroid hormone (TH) has important effects on postnatal development as well as on adult metabolic homeostasis. TH meditates its effects through different isoforms of the thyroid hormone receptors (TRs) encoded by the TRalpha and TRbeta genes, respectively. TRs belong to the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. LÄS MER
4. Hormonal regulation of the primate uterus : effects of hormone treatment and lifestyle intervention
Sammanfattning : The uterus is a major hormone-responsive reproductive organ in primates. Hormones promote their effect via different pathways. Receptors involved in steroid hormone, thyroid hormone and insulin signaling have been found in the endometrium. LÄS MER
5. Spinal motoneurones and the bulbospinal serotonininergic system in aged rats with behavioral deficits
Sammanfattning : The expression of neuropeptides, growth-related proteins and neurotrophin receptors were studied in motoneurons of young adult rats and in aged rats with symptoms of neuromuscular incapacities. Also studied were aging-related changes in the descending serotoninergic (5HT) bulbospinal system which constitutes a major afferent pathway to spinal motoneurons. LÄS MER
