  1. 16. Climate Change, Dengue and Aedes Mosquitoes : Past Trends and Future Scenarios

    Författare :Jing Liu-Helmersson; Joacim Rocklöv; Åke Brännström; Eduardo Massad; Richard Paul; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; dengue; mathematical modelling; vectorial capacity; DTR; Aedes aegypti; Aedes albopictus; climate change; Europe; vector invasion; abundance; dengue; matematisk modellering; vektorkapacitet; DTR; Aedes aegypti; Aedes albopictus; klimatförändring; Europa; vektor invasion; epidemiologi; Epidemiology;

    Sammanfattning : Background Climate change, global travel and trade have facilitated the spread of Aedes mosquitoes and have consequently enabled the diseases they transmit (dengue fever, Chikungunya, Zika and yellow fever) to emerge and re-emerge in uninfected areas. Large dengue outbreaks occurred in Athens in 1927 and in Portuguese island, Madeira in 2012, but there are almost no recent reports of Aedes aegypti, the principal vector, in Europe. LÄS MER

    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sustainability transitions; strategic planning; participatory backcasting; scenarios; modularity; participatory modelling; transdisciplinarity; organisational changes; heating and cooling sector; Omställningsprocesser; strategisk planering; deltagande backcasting; modularitet; deltagandemodellering; tvärvetenskap; organisationsförändringar; uppvärmning och kylning; Industrial Ecology; Industriell ekologi;

    Sammanfattning : Fostering sustainability transitions in the heating and cooling sector is a necessary and urgent issue. Steering mechanisms can enable coordination of actions by different actors towards common sustainability goals. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Two strategies for dealing with uncertainty in social-ecological systems

    Författare :Åsa Svenfelt; Göran Finnveden; Karl-Henrik Dreborg; Rebecka Milestad; Philip J. Vergragt; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Futures studies; social-ecological systems; feedback loops; environmental policy; environmental quality objectives; participation; scenarios; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The scale of environmental problems is increasing. Globalisation and trade haveweakened the links between the ecosystems in which goods are produced and thecommunities in which they are consumed. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Diagnostics for advanced fusion plasma scenarios

    Författare :Mattias Kuldkepp; Elisabeth Rachlew-Källne; Fritz Wagner; KTH; []

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decade, fusion research has showed the potential of being a main candidate for energy production for future generations. Further advances in improved fusion performance are therefore vital. This thesis focuses on advanced fusion plasma scenarios and their diagnostic requirements. LÄS MER

  5. 20. Urban Building Energy Modeling for Retrofit Scenarios : Development, Calibration, Validation and Implementation for Swedish Residential Buildings

    Författare :Fatemeh Johari; Joakim Widén; Darren Robinson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Urban building energy modeling; Urban building energy retrofit; Urban energy system; Urban energy planning; Energy performance certificate; Energy efficiency; low-energy cities; Engineering Science with specialization in Civil Engineering and Built Environment; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot byggteknik och byggd miljö;

    Sammanfattning : The necessity for an accelerated transition of urban energy systems and, in particular, the building sector toward energy efficiency and carbon neutrality poses new challenges to planning and retrofitting existing buildings. To cope with these challenges, so-called urban building energy models (UBEMs) have been introduced for quantifying the energy demand in the building sector, identifying the hot spots of energy use and suggesting scenarios for retrofitting the buildings.
