  1. 11. Lutetium-177-octreotate treatment of small intestine neuroendocrine tumors - Radiation biology as basis for optimization

    Författare :Johan Spetz; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy; PRRT; somatostatin receptors; SSTR; midgut carcinoid; radiogenomics;

    Sammanfattning : Patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) often have metastatic spread at the time of diagnosis. NETs frequently express somatostatin receptors (SSTR) that can be targeted by radiolabeled somatostatin analogs (e.g. 177Lu-octreotate). LÄS MER

  2. 12. Optimizing experimental radioimmunotherapy : investigating the different mechanisms behind radiation induced cell deaths

    Författare :Theres Lindgren; David Eriksson; Torgny Stigbrand; Bo Stenerlöw; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mitotic catastrophe; senescence; cell cycle checkpoint; apoptosis; radiation; gene expression; p53; immunologi; Immunology; radiofysik; radiation physics;

    Sammanfattning : Background. Radiation therapy is an important treatment regimen for malignant disease. Radiation therapy uses ionizing radiation to induce DNA damage in tumor cells in order to kill them. LÄS MER

  3. 13. Accurate description of heterogeneous tumors for biologically optimized radiation therapy

    Författare :Johan Nilsson; Bengt Lind; Anders Brahme; Margareta Edgren; Søren Bentzen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; heterogeneous tumors; radiation therapy; biological optimization; tumor hypoxia; effective radiation sensitivity; effective radiation resistance; Radiation biology; Strålningsbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, a model of tissue oxygenation is presented, that takes into account the heterogeneous nature of tumor vasculature. Even though the model is rather simple, the resulting oxygen distributions agree very well with clinically observed oxygen distributions for most tumors and healthy normal tissues. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Radiation induced biomarkers of individual sensitivity to radiation therapy

    Författare :Sara Skiöld; Mats Harms-Ringdahl; Siamak Haghdoost; Mats Ljungman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; low dose ionizing radiation; radiation sensitivity; proteomics; whole blood; 8-oxo-dG; oxidative stress; acute adverse healthy tissue effects; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Sammanfattning : Fifty percent of solid cancers are treated with radiation therapy (RT). The dose used in RT is adjusted to the most sensitive individuals so that not more than 5% of the patients will have severe adverse healthy tissue effects. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Measurement of sensitivity to DNA damaging agents

    Författare :Sherin T Mathew; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; intrinsic sensitivity; DNA damage; ionizing radiation; cell division;

    Sammanfattning : There is a large inter-individual variation in intrinsic sensitivity in patients receiving treatment with DNA damaging agents. Cancer therapy exemplifies this problem where patients experience varying degree of normal tissue side effects in response to radiation or chemotherapy. LÄS MER
